Madison Bumgarner Says He's 'Ready to Help Contribute' After Shoulder Injury
San Francisco Giants starting pitcher Madison Bumgarner declared himself ready to return after being sidelined nearly three months following a dirt bike accident April 20.
The three-time World Series champion continued to lament the shoulder and rib injuries suffered during the incident, but he's prepared to pitch following the MLB All-Star break.
"I'm ready to help contribute like I should've been doing this whole time," Bumgarner told reporters Monday night. "It sucks. I put myself in this spot. I wish I wouldn't have. I've tried to make the best of it and still am."

Report: MLB Vet Unretires After 1 Day
In April, Bumgarner admitted getting on a dirt bike during the season was "definitely not the most responsible decision I've made," but said the crash that caused him to get hurt wasn't even that serious, perย Carl Stewardย of the Bay Area News Group.
"Man, I knew I was going to get asked that question and I wish I had some sort of cool story for you, some kind of crazy wreck but it really wasn't anything spectacular," he said. "It was just super unfortunate. I wasn't really going that fast. I honestly don't know what happened. It was a surprise to me, too โฆ when I was younger, I got in much worse wrecks. Nothing ever happened, though. But that was a long time ago, too."
The four-time All-Star selection sported a 3.00 ERA and 1.07 WHIP with 28 strikeouts in 27 innings across four starts before the setback.
San Francisco struggled in his absence. The team sits in the NL West basement with a 34-56 record, 27 games behind the Los Angeles Dodgers at the break.ย The starting staff ranks 25th in ERA this season after finishing fifth in the category last year, when its ace made a full complement of 34 starts.
Bumgarner is scheduled to rejoin the rotation Saturday night against the San Diego Padres.
