Mike Dunleavy Reportedly to Be Waived by Hawks
The Atlanta Hawks continue to make roster changes leading up to the start of free agency, and the team will reportedly waive Mike Dunleavy on Friday.
ESPN's Tim MacMahon reported the Hawks were waiving Dunleavy one day before his $5.2 million salary for next season becomes fully guaranteed, though he's still owed $1.7 million by the team.
Dunleavy was traded from the Cleveland Cavaliers to the Hawks in January as part of the Kyle Korver deal. He appeared in 30 games for the team, averaging 5.6 points and shooting 42.9 percent from three-point range.
The 36-year-old has been racking up frequent flyer miles in recent years. He originally signed a three-year deal with the Chicago Bulls prior to the 2014-15 season before being sent to the Cavs in July 2016 and finishing last season with the Hawks.
A 15-year NBA veteran, Dunleavy remains an effective shooter off the bench. He's hit at least 39.4 percent from beyond the arc each of the last three seasons and has a career mark of 37.7 percent.
