Paul George Reportedly a Trade Target for Minnesota Timberwolves
The Minnesota Timberwolves are doing what they can to add an established veteran on the night of the NBA draft.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical, the team is interested in acquiring either Jimmy Butler from the Chicago Bulls or Paul George of the Indiana Pacers. The Timberwolves currently hold the No. 7 pick in the 2017 draft.
Both All-Stars appear available this offseason for the right price.
Vincent Goodwill of CSN Chicago reported earlier this week the Bulls are "actively shopping" Butler to kick off their rebuilding process. Wojnarowski also reported the Pacers were in the process of discussing deals for George after he informed the team his plans to leave at the end of next season when he is a free agent.
Of course, there will be plenty of competition for George, with "just about every team" providing Indiana with an offer, per Sam Amico of Fox Sports Ohio.
Minnesota has plenty of young talent starting with Karl-Anthony Towns and Andrew Wiggins, but the organization hasn't had a winning record since the 2004-05 season. Adding a dominant two-way player like George or Butler would legitimatize the squad almost immediately and help get the team back in the playoffs.
