Lakers Host De'Aaron Fox for 1st Workout, Josh Jackson for 2nd Before NBA Draft
The Los Angeles Lakers were busy Tuesday, hosting De'Aaron Fox and Josh Jackson for workouts at their practice facility in El Segundo, California.
It was the first time the Lakers got a close-up look at Fox, but it was the second time they had sat in on a workout for Jackson. According to Lakers.com's Mike Trudell, the Lakers, who own the second pick in the 2017 NBA draft, first worked out Jackson last week in Sacramento.
"When I was in Sac I was working out with my trainer," Jackson said. "I work out with him every day and I'm comfortable with him and know what he wants me to do. We've got the same terminology. We're familiar with each other. Coming out here, I gotta learn a little bit more of their terminology and things they like to do. They put me in a few instances where I would probably be in their offense ... hopefully I impressed them."
According to Trudell, the Lakers will continue their predraft prep Thursday when projected No. 1 overall pick Markelle Fultz pays the team a visit.
Lakers president of basketball operations Magic Johnson also told reporters Tuesday the Lakers are working on bringing Lonzo Ball back for a second workout, per the Los Angeles Times' Brad Turner.
Ball's first workout with the Lakers came on June 7, and reviews for the former UCLA point guard were mixed.
According to the Los Angeles Daily News' Mark Medina (via the Orange County Register), the Lakers were impressed with Ball's "leadership potential, passing and scoring" but were underwhelmed by his conditioning.
Before the NBA Finals, Bleacher Report's Jonathan Wasserman projected the Lakers would land Jackson at No. 2 overall, while the Philadelphia 76ers would scoop up Ball at No. 3.
