LeBron James Says Warriors 'Probably' Have Most Firepower He's Ever Played
Even 39 points, 11 rebounds and nine assists from LeBron James weren't enough for the Cleveland Cavaliers to defend home court against the Golden State Warriors in Wednesday's Game 3 of the NBA Finals.
Golden State scored the final 11 points of the contest and emerged with a 118-113 victory, sparking James to say it "probably" has the most firepower he's ever played against, via Sports Illustrated:
James has played a number of loaded teams in the NBA Finals during his career with the Cavaliers and Miami Heat, including multiple San Antonio Spurs squads that beat him, as well Kevin Durant's Oklahoma City Thunder. Still, it is easy to agree with his assessment of this season's Warriors.
After all, the core that set an NBA record of 73 wins in a season is still intact with the addition of Durant. That means the owners of the last three league MVPs (Stephen Curry in 2015-16 and 2014-15 and Durant in 2013-14) are on the Golden State roster, as well as All-Stars Klay Thompson and Draymond Green.
The Warriors finished first in offensive rating and second in defensive rating this season, per NBA.com, and have overwhelmed the Cavaliers with their talent through the first three games of the NBA Finals.
As a result, they have cemented their place in sports history, as SportsCenter shared:
James has played 14 seasons in the NBA and in the last seven NBA Finals. He is one of the best players in league history and recognizes greatness when he sees it.
The Warriors certainly have plenty of it.
