Houston Rockets guard James Harden became the first player in NBA history to record at least 2,000 points, 900 assists and 600 rebounds in a season Wednesday night against the Minnesota Timberwolves

Harden carved out a place in NBA history with a late first-quarter dime to Nene that put the Rockets up 33-32, as the league's official Twitter account documented:

It's been a record-setting kind of season for Harden, who has entered rarified air throughout the final few weeks of the 2016-17 campaign, per SportsCenter

The MVP candidate has also recorded the most games (seven) with at least 30 points and 15 assists in a single campaign since the start of the 1984-85 season, according to StatMuse (h/t CBSSports.com's Matt Moore).

On top of that, Harden entered Tuesday averaging 38.4 points, 14.7 assists and 10.7 rebounds per 100 possessions.

Those numbers won't be replicated easily in the postseason, but Harden has proved throughout his career year that he has the chops necessary to churn out historically significant numbers en route to loads of wins.

Now headed for a first-round clash with fellow MVP front-runner Russell Westbrook, Harden will have to be at his best for the Rockets to avoid an upset at the hands of the Oklahoma City Thunder
