Masters Schedule 2017: Friday Tee Times, TV Coverage, Live Stream, Predictions
A sensational back nine from Charley Hoffman saw him open up an impressive four-shot lead at the end of Day 1 of the 2017 Masters and the American will be out to extend his advantage on Friday.
Hoffman will begin his second round at 10:01 a.m. (ET) on Day 2 alongside Chris Wood and Yuta Ikeda at seven under par, well clear of William McGirt on three under. Having only finished in the top 25 in a major on one previous occasion, all eyes will be on the leader to see if he can continue his sensational scoring.
Of course, the big names in the field will attract plenty of attention on Friday, too, with the likes of Lee Westwood (-2), Phil Mickelson (-1) and Sergio Garcia (-1) all enjoying solid opening days.

Here is a look at the leaderboard as it stands:
Charley Hoffman (-7)

As the first players signed off on their scorecards on Thursday, we looked set for a day of high scoring at Augusta, with the winds howling around this plush venue. But Hoffman negotiated the challenge with some ease.
Indeed, as the blustery conditions eased slightly in the latter stages of his round, he took advantage. Hoffman rattled off four birdies in succession from 14 onwards and a putt narrowly slipped by at the last. However, the world No. 52 would have been delighted with his round of 65.
The European Tour Twitter feed broke down the numbers behind the round of the day from Hoffman:
Typically, the player that putts the best at Augusta wins the green jacket, and Hoffman spoke after his round of how he found his radar on the greens.
"The putts started going in the hole—as simple as that sounds," he said after his dream round, per BBC Sport. "I kept hitting my spots and in the wind I ended up getting 20 footers and I got some of them down the stretch."
Per BBC Sport’s Dan Walker, no player has been in such a strong position at the end of the opening day for a long time:
The pressure will be heaped on Hoffman on Friday and with more favourable conditions forecast, expect some players from the chasing pack to close that gap. However, it’s clear the American’s game is in excellent fettle and it’s difficult to see him putting together anything other than another solid round on Friday.
Round 2 Prediction: 70
Rory McIlroy (Even)

In the early stages of his opening round McIlory seemed to be fighting against himself at times, as he slumped to three over on the front nine.
Around Amen Corner the Northern Irishman’s round looked to be in danger of unravelling, but he made some clutch putts at 10, 11 and 12 to cling on. They were efforts that built McIlroy’s confidence for an assault on the final few holes.
Indeed, by the time he stood on the 17th tee, the four-time major winner was back to level par again, picking up shots at three of the previous four holes.
Per Jason Sobel of ESPN, it was a resurgence that kept McIlroy’s hopes of a green jacket alive at Augusta:
Unsurprisingly, after such a strong recovery, the 27-year-old was delighted with his 72. "After nine holes if someone had said I would shoot even par I would have ripped their hand off," he said, per BBC Sport.
The challenge for McIlroy will be to take the momentum gathered late on Thursday into Day 2 and move up the leaderboard toward Hoffman. Having scrambled well on Thursday, expect one of those trademark moves from McIlroy on Friday.
Round 2 Prediction: 68
