New NBA Free-Throw Rule Explained

White-Belt Fighter Defends Armbar by Biting Opponent at European Championships

Nathan McCarterJan 25, 2017

"Win if you can, lose if you must, but always cheat."

The wise words of Jesse Ventura rang true for a competitor at the recent 2017 IBJJF European Championships.

Video arose, via Reddit's MMA community (warning: NSFW language), of a white-belt jiu-jitsu match where, once in an armbar, a competitor bit his opponent as a means of escape (fast-forward to the 3:55 mark in the video above).

Staff checked on the victim after he yelled out following the bite, but soon thereafter, the match continued.

And it worked. The biter wasn't disqualified, and he got the victory.

This unsanitary defense is, however, not suggested. In upper-level events, or with competent referees, it will result in a disqualification. Also, it'll just leave a bad taste in your mouth.
