Aqib Talib, Chris Harris, More Broncos Call Titans Dirty After Loss

Scott PolacekDec 11, 2016

Tennessee Titans wide receiver Harry Douglas managed just one catch for 10 yards during his team's 13-10 victory over the Denver Broncos on Sunday, but he caught the attention of the defending Super Bowl champions in the process.

Douglas went low for a block on cornerback Chris Harris during the second quarter, causing the defender to roll on the ground in pain. Denver cornerback Aqib Talib drew a personal foul penalty on the next play and started a brawl after tackling Douglas.

Harris tweeted: "Dude tried to end my career, plan and simple I need to see that cash fine Monday" after the loss.

Kenny Ducey of Sports Illustrated noted Talib shares agent Todd France with Douglas and plans on fighting the receiver in France's office next time he sees him.

Ryan Greene of CBS Denver shared video of Talib making those threats toward Douglas:

The two cornerbacks weren't the only Broncos players who took issue with what they saw as a dirty play from Douglas.

Linebacker Shane Ray commented on the ensuing brawl, per Jason Wolf of the Tennessean: "You're poking at a pack of wolves. You feel me? So the reaction that they got is what they deserved."

Defensive end Derek Wolfe didn't hesitate to call the entire Titans offensive line dirty, per Andrew Mason of the Broncos' official website.

"They were all doing dirty stuff. Their whole offensive line's dirty," Wolfe said. "I was getting grabbed on my elbow and yanked on my elbow, [they were] grabbing me by my elbow brace and pulling me to the ground. That's the kind of stuff—that's obviously the team they are. They're dirty, and we combated that."

Despite Denver's protestations, Douglas saw his run block as a clean and legal play and said as much after the win, per Nicki Jhabvala of the Denver Post:

Douglas wasn't the only Titans playmaker to struggle against Denver's stout defense. Quarterback Marcus Mariota finished an abysmal 6-of-20 for 88 yards and zero touchdowns, although running back DeMarco Murray saved the offense with 92 rushing yards and a score.

While the Broncos can take pride in the fact they limited Douglas' impact, Tennessee got the last laugh with the victory thanks to a strong performance from its own defense.

Broncos quarterback Trevor Siemian threw for 334 yards and a touchdown, but the Titans prevented Denver from scoring until the fourth quarter and forced a game-winning fumble on the visitors' final possession.

Douglas' Titans are 7-6 compared to Denver's 8-5 but still sit in solid postseason position tied atop the AFC South with the Houston Texans. The Broncos are two games behind the Oakland Raiders and Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC West and battling the 8-5 Miami Dolphins and 7-5 Baltimore Ravens for a wild-card spot.

If the Titans make the playoffs, Talib may have to wait if he still plans on visiting Douglas in their agent's office during the offseason.
