Donatas Motiejunas, Rockets Remain in Talks over New Contract
The Houston Rockets and forward Donatas Motiejunas reportedly came to terms on a four-year contract worth $35 million on Dec. 9 but have yet to announce the agreement after issues with his physical.
Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical was the first to report the terms of the agreement, and he added that it could be worth up to $37 million with bonuses.
The Rockets matched an offer sheet that Motiejunas signed with the Brooklyn Nets on Dec. 5, but they pulled the sheet and negotiated a new deal when he didn't report for his physical, per NBA.com.
Wojnarowski offered more specifics regarding the deal, including how little of it is guaranteed:
"Paramaters of new Rockets-Motiejunas deal are similar to Nets offer sheet, with only one season fully guaranteed, league sources said.

On Saturday, Wojnarowski reported Houston is still working through Motiejunas' physical exam and has not activated him yet.
Rockets general manager Daryl Morey spoke with reporters on Monday, saying the two sides are in "active discussions," per Calvin Watkins of ESPN.com. Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle reported the two sides "hit a snag" during the physical and noted Morey would not say if there was a chance Motiejunas would sign with the team.
The 7'0" native of Lithuania has not played this season while holding out, but 2016-17 will mark his fifth NBA campaign.
After Motiejunas averaged career highs of 12.0 points and 5.9 rebounds per game in 71 games (62 starts) in 2014-15, his production dropped off to the tune of 6.2 points and 2.9 rebounds last season, and a back injury limited him to 37 games.
The 26-year-old's tenure with the Rockets has been a tumultuous one, as Houston traded him to the Detroit Pistons at last season's deadline before a failed physical voided the deal.
Motiejunas could be a key addition to a team that is off to a strong start.
Houston barely made the playoffs as the No. 8 seed last season. However, it is currently sitting fourth in the Western Conference at 17-7 due largely to the play of James Harden.
The Rockets have solid depth up front with Clint Capela, Ryan Anderson, Nene, Sam Dekker and Montrezl Harrell, but Motiejunas would give the opposition another big body to worry about.
