WWE TLC 2016: Full Card Predictions After Survivor Series
SmackDown's Superstars are set to shift their focus from brand warfare to personal animosity as Survivor Series gives way to WWE TLC 2016.
And the blue brand's rivals won't have to wait long to get their hands on each other, as the SmackDown-exclusive pay-per-view is coming up on Dec. 4.
That's where the men and women fighting for Team Blue at Sunday's Survivor Series will have a chance to settle unfinished business with their fellow SmackDown stars. Alexa Bliss has an argument that she deserves another title shot. Nikki Bella has a new top entry on her list of enemies. Kalisto is certain to have revenge on his mind after what went down in Toronto.
Those narratives will shape the TLC card.
We already know the PPV's main event. AJ Styles vs. Dean Ambrose in a TLC match for the WWE World Championship is already official.
SmackDown's storylines and the events of Survivor Series help break down what else to expect as WWE celebrates tables, ladders and chairs at the upcoming gimmick PPV.
The Miz vs. Dolph Ziggler (Ladder Match for Intercontinental Championship)
1 of 6Dolph Ziggler sat out Survivor Series, thanks to The Miz. And Maryse.
The Showoff lost the IC title to The Miz after Maryse rolled her husband out of trouble and into a pinfall on the final SmackDown before Sunday's PPV.
At Survivor Series, The Miz fended off Sami Zayn with more help from Maryse. That result kept the IC title on SmackDown, assuring Ziggler another crack at it.
These two have been battling for years. Many of their showdowns, though, have ended in controversial fashion.
A ladder match would, in theory, allow for a definitive end to the next title bout and this rivalry.
Natalya vs. Nikki Bella
2 of 6Natalya replaced Nikki Bella on SmackDown's female Survivor Series squad following a backstage ambush. Bella didn't see who clocked her from behind, but one fellow member of the blue brand had a motive.
ESPN.com's Brian Campbell tweeted about the attack, "Would be good storyline twist if it was Natalya who caused it."
After all, Natalya didn't make the team, thanks to a loss to Bella. She was supposed to be relegated to coaching duty until the mysterious assault.
During the Survivor Series match, Natalya made quite the statement. She was one of the match's stars and eliminated Raw's Sasha Banks. She's now armed with much more momentum than she had previously.
It's easy to imagine that being the precursor to a rivalry with Bella.
Heath Slater and Rhyno vs. Bray Wyatt and Randy Orton (Tag Team Championship)
3 of 6Bray Wyatt and Randy Orton took out two-thirds of what used to be The Shield at Survivor Series. They knocked off Chris Jericho, aided in Braun Strowman's exit and stood victorious as Team SmackDown outlasted Raw.
That performance hinted at the duo rising.
Many expected Orton's allegiance with Wyatt to be a ploy, but he has since proved a faithful servant to The Eater of Worlds. That makes The Wyatt Family mighty dangerous.
That's bad news for Heath Slater and Rhyno. The tag champs didn't fare as well at the PPV. They were part of the losing side in the PPV's 10-on-10 tag team match.
They are likely to now have to fend off a pair of unsettling predators with championship aspirations.
Baron Corbin vs. Kalisto
4 of 6Even though he wasn't on the card, Baron Corbin put his handprint on Survivor Series by running over Kalisto. The King of Flight was in the midst of an excellent match against The Brian Kendrick for the Cruiserweight Championship when Corbin stormed in.
The Lone Wolf attacked Kalisto, reigniting a feud that an injury derailed before SummerSlam.
WWE is going to revisit this David vs. Goliath tale. Corbin and Kalisto have both needed sustained storylines and rivalries of late. The high-flyer's quest for revenge will provide both of those.
The match that was set to happen at SummerSlam will finally take place at TLC.
Curt Hawkins vs. Kane
5 of 6In a case of WWE not knowing what else to do with either man, two midcarders are likely to collide in a filler bout.
Kane knocked off Luke Harper at Survivor Series. His feud with The Wyatt Family seems to be fizzling out. He'll soon need a new rival.
Hawkins, meanwhile, didn't make the cut for the PPV.
He has taken down Apollo Crews a handful of times. WWE doesn't seem to have a plan for the returning Superstar beyond that.
That sounds like a recipe for just shoving these guys on the TLC card together. When John Cena gets back and Undertaker starts wrestling on the major PPVs, Hawkins will get pushed aside. For now, he'll take part in a holdover feud with a guy who has seen a lot of airtime on SmackDown recently.
Becky Lynch vs. Alexa Bliss (Women's Championship)
6 of 6Becky Lynch and Alexa Bliss will go from Survivor Series teammates to bitter rivals once more.
Being a part of Team SmackDown was a brief departure from a brewing feud. And things remain unsettled between the two warriors.
Lynch forced Bliss to tap out during their title match in Glasgow, Scotland, on Nov. 8, but the match shouldn't have ended when it did. The challenger had her foot on the rope. Had the referee seen that, he would have forced Lynch to release the Dis-arm-her.
That will be Bliss' argument when she demands another championship opportunity.
She's bound to get it, too. This rivalry has only just begun. Lynch's recent undisclosed health issues stalled the story.
WWE will get a chance to tell it at TLC and beyond.
The Fan's Podcast is among those who want to see Lynch and Bliss make history at that event. It tweeted, "Alexa Bliss vs Becky Lynch in a TLC match. Book it!"
2016 already featured the first female Hell in a Cell match. Lynch and Bliss would thrive as the trailblazers who bring the women's division into the steel-filled fray of a TLC bout.
