Mike McCarthy Talks Fixing Packers, Calls Himself 'Highly Successful NFL Coach'
After a resounding 47-25 defeat to the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, the Green Bay Packers dropped their fourth game in five as their record slumped to 4-5 on the season.
While the hot seat's temperature might be increasing under head coach Mike McCarthy, he wasn't panicking when speaking with the media on Monday.
"I'm not into shock and awe or torch the landscape. I'm a builder. I'm a developer. You build a culture, you invest in the culture," he said, via ESPN.com's Rob Demovsky. "We look to adjust and tweak on a daily basis. … We have not played well enough. We're dialed into how it happened and why it happened."

He wasn't afraid to toot his own horn, either, via Demovsky: "Let's state the facts: I'm a highly successful NFL coach. With that, I've never looked at the ride to this point as smooth."
There's little to dispute that, considering that this is McCarthy's 11th season as Packers head coach. He's had just one losing season, which was a 6-10 campaign in 2008.
He's made the postseason eight times, including a Super Bowl XLV win over the Pittsburgh Steelers.
But through nine games this season, McCarthy has as many or more losses than he's had in five of his other seasons.
Yet his confidence provides some contrast compared to his quarterback, Aaron Rodgers, who told the media, via Bob McGinn of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, that "there has to be that healthy fear," while "the urgency’s got to pick up."
Regardless of the tough stretch, the Packers are still just one game out of first place in the NFC North behind the Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions. If they're able to get in gear quickly, Green Bay fans could be laughing about this come December.
