WWE Raw: Burning Questions to Address After November 7 Show

Ryan DilbertNov 8, 2016

After a big win over The Bulgarian Brute on the Nov. 7 WWE Raw, Sami Zayn is a three-count away from bringing the Intercontinental Championship to the red brand.

What does WWE have in mind for Zayn and the IC title? Is Raw going to be the definitive home of champions?

Those are among the most intriguing questions to come out of Raw's visit to Glasgow, Scotland, on Monday night. The show also left fans pondering other storylines.

What's ahead for Noam Dar, the newest addition to the cruiserweight division? How much longer will Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens be friends? Is a crack at the Raw Women's Championship in Bayley's immediate future?

Raw marched toward the Nov. 20 Survivor Series pay-per-view, foreshadowing championship opportunities and the breakdown of a friendship.

Is Zayn Headed to SmackDown?

Days after Dolph Ziggler's open challenge to the Raw roster, Sami Zayn and Rusev battled for the right to face him for the IC crown at Survivor Series.

The underdog outlasted Rusev, using a Helluva Kick to knock the brute off the top turnbuckle before pinning him. That win set up quite the matchup between two top-notch performers.

The Raw vs. SmackDown clash will create a unique situation. A Zayn victory would pluck the IC title from the blue brand, giving Raw two midcard titles.

There's also the possibility of this being the beginnings of a feud, one that leads Zayn to leave Raw for SmackDown.

The Raw spotlight hasn't steadily pointed at Zayn. He's often been the forgotten man on Monday nights, with no real rival or sustained feud after battling Kevin Owens during the summer. Perhaps WWE is setting things in motion for him to transition to a new stage.

It's hard to imagine Raw being home to the IC, U.S. and universal titles at the same time. The safer bet is that Ziggler retains and that this bout will just be a one-time showcase of talent.

Still, there is added intrigue heading into the contest, with the possibility of a shift in brand power.

What's Next for Dar?

Dar finally arrived, debuting for the Raw cruiserweight division on Monday's show after a long stay on the sidelines. As a bonus, The Scottish Supernova got to do so in his home country.

He teamed with cruiserweight champ Brian Kendrick in a losing effort against Sin Cara and Rich Swann. Kendrick then blamed Dar and attacked him after the bell.

That interaction left one wondering if Dar is already headed for a feud with the champ. He has motivation to go after Kendrick after Monday night. And WWE has yet to establish a clear No. 1 contender after T.J. Perkins lost the strap to Kendrick at Hell in a Cell.

The cruiserweight division remains open and underdeveloped.

There have been hints that Swann is set to rise up the ranks. Perkins could charge back and demand a shot to reclaim his championship. But WWE may be ready to have Dar skip ahead of them in line.

Expect the company to pay attention to fan reaction to him in the coming weeks. He proved he's popular in Scotland, but can he get audiences to root for him elsewhere?

Is Bayley Poised to Be the Next No. 1 Contender?

Bayley snapped a short losing streak by pinning Charlotte Flair in Glasgow.

The match was a non-title affair and a tag team match. But that visual of Bayley getting the three-count over the Raw women's champ felt like heavy-handed foreshadowing. It's telling that WWE chose to give Bayley that moment, not her tag team partner, Sasha Banks.

Wrestling Inc believes the win was a setup for Bayley to move toward contention:

It's hard to argue that. The announcers also played up the idea that Flair is jealous of how popular Bayley is.

That all smells like a Bayley-Flair rivalry is on the way, but the women's title scene may soon be a crowded one.

Banks and Flair's feud appears to be the kind that is never truly over. The Boss has yet to demand or receive her rematch after losing to her archenemy at Hell in a Cell.

Plus, there's Nia Jax to think about. She has zero singles losses on her Raw resume, per CageMatch.net, and looked like an absolute beast in Monday's match.

A strong showing at Survivor Series from Jax could be a precursor to a title shot. Or it could be at least enough to get her a rivalry with Bayley to determine who faces Flair next.

Are Jericho and Owens Headed for a Split at Survivor Series?

The Chris Jericho-Kevin Owens alliance will take a big hit once Y2J reviews the video from Monday's main event. One best friend pinned another at the close of the Fatal 5-Way match.

Seth Rollins had knocked out Jericho; Roman Reigns punched out Owens. The universal champ, though, fell onto Jericho and pinned him unintentionally.

Jericho, Owens, Reigns, Rollins and Braun Strowman are now all set to team up against five of SmackDown's best Superstars at Survivor Series.

Many fans will be wanting to see if Rollins and Reigns can get along. However, the recent past suggests that audiences should watch the Owens-Jericho dynamic, too. The besties have bickered in the past, including when Jericho called out the champ on Oct. 17 for interfering in his match.

This latest incident could widen the cracks between them. Miami Herald columnist Scott Fishman believes that WWE planted seeds on Monday's Raw for a future breakup:

Does that come as early as Nov. 20, or will WWE continue to tease Jeri-KO's dissolution? Remember that members of The Shield were at each other's throats for a good while before Rollins betrayed the group. On the other hand, Shawn Michaels jettisoned Marty Jannetty after one misplaced superkick.

By creating drama between Jericho and Owens, WWE did well to boost intrigue heading into Survivor Series. The PPV now has one more subplot to weave into its narrative.
