Just five months after accepting an invitation to train at the WWE Performance Center, former German goalkeeper Tim Wiese made his WWE in-ring debut Thursday in Munich, teaming with Cesaro and Sheamus to beat the Shining Stars and Bo Dallas.

Weise's former world football league tweeted its congratulations after the match ended:

The 34-year-old Wiese is a native of Bergisch Gladbach, Germany, and Thursday marked the official start of his WWE career after 15 years as a professional goalkeeper, primarily for Werder Bremen in the German Bundesliga.

Wiese was part of Germany's 2010 World Cup squad before finishing up his career with 1899 Hoffenheim in 2014.

Shortly thereafter, Wiese appeared at a WWE live event in Frankfurt as a special guest timekeeper, which set the wheels in motion for him to join the company.

Wiese was officially brought in as a developmental talent in June, and WWE executive and Superstar Triple H had the following to say about his prospects, according to WWE.com:Ā "Tim is tenacious. He continues to be very vocal in his desire to prove that he has what it takes, and he has shown tremendous resilience and determination to create an opportunity for himself. This is his break to walk his talk. If all goes well in Florida, he will get his chance in the ring."

Wiese got the chance The Game talked about in June, and he impressed his countrymen alongside two of the hardest-hitting Superstars WWE has to offer.

Prior to the match, Wiese made it clear that he intended to use his size and strength to his advantage, per Michael Butler of theĀ Guardian:Ā "My game plan against the Shining Stars will basically be to go full throttle, beat them down out of the ring, and seeing as they weigh 30-40 lbs. less than I do, I will grab them, one with the left hand, one with the right, and end them. I'll drop kick Bo Dallas and throw him off the stage."

Wiese is an impressive physical specimen, and he has the larger-than-life aura that tends to lead to success in WWE.

As seen in this video courtesy of Bundesliga English, Wiese has big-time aspirations and goals when it comes to enjoying WWE success:

There is a long history of professional athletes making the leap to wrestling and going on to have lengthy and illustrious careers.

Many of them were American football players, with Goldberg, The Rock, Ron Simmons and Vader standing out as prime examples.

Wiese has the athletic ability needed to be a star in WWE, and he seems to have plenty of charisma to go along with it.

Thursday represented a significant first step in his journey, but the next challenge is finding his way onto NXT or WWE programming.
