Rockets vs. Cavaliers Start Time Moved Due to 2016 World Series Game 6

Tyler ConwayOct 31, 2016

The start of Tuesday's game between the Houston Rockets and Cleveland Cavaliers has been moved to 6 p.m. ET to accommodate fans who want to watch Game 6 of the World Series.

"CLE, we fought hard to move @cavs tip to 6pm. tomorrow so you wouldn't be torn. @cavs game should end by 2nd inning. Can't wait, @Indians!" Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert wrote in a tweet Monday.

The game was originally scheduled for a 7:10 p.m. tipoff. The Cleveland Indians can clinch their first World Series since 1948 with a win over the Chicago Cubs. Their game is scheduled to begin at Progressive Field at 8 p.m.

This is the second time the Cavaliers have pushed up their start time to accommodate the Indians. Cleveland's opening-night ring ceremony coincided with Game 1 of the World Series. The NBA moved up festivities by a half-hour so fans could watch the ceremony and opening tip while also catching Cleveland in the World Series.

Even Cavaliers players and coaches have admitted to watching Indians games while they're on the bench. Gilbert said Monday that the team will broadcast Game 6 on its Jumbotron at the conclusion of the Rockets-Cavaliers game.

"When you flash it across the screen during our game, you're going to see it," head coach Tyronn Lue told reporters in regard to the World Series. "I saw it. I looked, too. I'm guilty of that."

Cavaliers players have also made it a habit of traveling together to Indians games. Forward LeBron James even has an ongoing bet with friend and Chicago native Dwyane Wade.

"We've been to three games now and we're big fans too," Kevin Love told reporters. "Of course, that catches our attention."

Luckily for the Cavaliers and the city of Cleveland, they're off for a potential Game 7 on Wednesday. They'll be back on the court Thursday night, which could lead to a big celebration on the national stage or some much-needed wound-licking if the Indians blow their 3-1 lead.
