Antonio Conte Reportedly Angry with Chelsea Squad After 2-1 Defeat to Liverpool

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte was reportedly "extremely angry" with his players following Friday evening's 2-1 home defeat at the hands of Liverpool, which resulted in a "dressing room fury" at Stamford Bridge. 

According to the Sun's Warren Haughton, the Italian "unleashed hell" upon the Blues playing staff after their unbeaten start to the season was ended by goals from Dejan Lovren and Jordan Henderson.

Haughton wrote that Conte laid into his players for their subpar defending in the absence of club veteran John Terry, as well as accusing Chelsea's stars of playing in fear of the Reds attack.

Chelsea next face Premier League champions Leicester City in the EFL Cup on Tuesday evening, a fixture for which Conte is expected to rotate his squad considerably, according to Haughton.

Cesc Fabregas is one of those players likely to be slotted in for the fixture against the Foxes, and ex-Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes told BT Sport the Spaniard needs to be reinstated to the Blues XI:

Conte officially began his work at Stamford Bridge in July following Italy's exit from this summer's UEFA European Championship, and the temptation in a new environment is to remain calm for fear of upsetting morale.

However, the fiery-tempered former Juventus chief looks to have shed the need to hide his emotions after what he saw as an embarrassing result—Chelsea's first home defeat since falling to Manchester City in April.

Conte's Chelsea still sit fifth in the Premier League table, but the west Londoners have now gone two games without a win after drawing 2-2 at Swansea City in their outing prior to Friday's Liverpool clash.

As Match of the Day pointed out, losing at home is a disappointment with which the 47-year-old isn't accustomed:

Chelsea have little time to recover from their setback, too, and they will make the short trip to the Emirates Stadium on Saturday for a London derby against Arsenal, another major test of their title credentials.

A win over the Gunners in Week 6 of the Premier League campaign would help reinstate the Blues as contenders for the top spots, but defeat would further condemn Conte's side as not ready to make their return just yet.
