Britton Colquitt to Browns: Latest Contract Details, Comments and Reaction
The Cleveland Browns have reportedly reached an agreement with free-agent punter Britton Colquitt on a one-year contract.
Mike Klis of KUSA first reported the news Saturday, and Adam Schefter of ESPN confirmed the details of the signing.
The Denver Broncos released Colquitt on Tuesday. Michael Jaycox of Mile High Sports pointed out the move saved the organization more than $3 million in cap space. It left Riley Dixon, whom the team selected in the seventh round of the 2016 NFL draft, to take over punting duties.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Laurie Lattimore-Volkmann of the Mile High Report passed along comments the special teams contributor made during an appearance on KDCO Radio's Afternoon Drive program.
"After talking to [general manager] John [Elway], it just couldn't have worked," Colquitt said. "I'm not mad. I don't want to say I'm pissed off, but I'm hurt. Not because of what anybody did. But because we love being here."
Meanwhile, the Browns traded Andy Lee to the Carolina Panthers on Monday. The move meant unproven options Michael Palardy and Kasey Redfern were the team's only remaining options at the position.
Palardy had the better preseason, with two of his five punts landing inside the 20-yard line and one traveling 75 yards, but the Browns clearly felt more comfortable with a veteran like Colquitt.
The 31-year-old reigning Super Bowl champion is coming off somewhat of a down season. He ranked 28th in punting average and 21st in net punting during the 2015 campaign. His postseason numbers would have rated 10th and third, respectively, during the regular season, though.
Ultimately, it's a nice addition late in the roster-building process by the Browns to fill the void left by the Lee trade. Colquitt figures to receive a heavy workload thanks to a Cleveland offense that has a lot of question marks heading into the team's season opener next weekend against the Philadelphia Eagles.
