Will New Day vs. Wyatts Feud End Before Hitting Its Stride at WWE Battleground?
After an entertaining six-man tag team match, one of WWE's budding feuds could be over before it even started.
The New Day and The Wyatt Family continue to tell a brilliant story as their rivalry heats up, but after the WWE Draft sent each group to separate shows, was WWE Battleground a premature sendoff?
WWE continued to play up Bray Wyatt's intimidation, and potential brainwashing, of Xavier Woods. Using simple facial expressions, a subtle narrative reverberated throughout the Verizon Center. By the time Woods finally snapped out of his trance, in a climactic comeback, the entire arena came unglued.

The New Day eventually lost to The Wyatts. James Caldwell of PWtorch described the match as a "solid, exciting tag match packed into nine minutes."
"The crowd was hot and the match was entertaining," echoed Jason Powell of Prowrestling.net.
There is clearly a demand for this feud. After weeks of laying the groundwork through promos and backwoods brawls, fans are just now beginning to get a taste of the in-ring aspect.
Heel victories usually indicate that a feud will continue; with The New Day yet to put the Tag Team Championships on the line against The Wyatt Family, this should definitely be the case. But this past Tuesday on SmackDown Live, The New Day was drafted to Raw, while Wyatt and Erick Rowan were moved to the blue brand.
If this rivalry—a deep feud that WWE has significantly invested in—ended tonight, it would be an incomplete story of what could have been. Woods never fully conquered his demons with a win. The Wyatts still haven't had a high-stakes tag team championship match against The New Day. Luke Harper hasn't even had a say in any of this.
"Good match. Bray Wyatt needed that win, Xavier Woods looked like a star and the New Day continues to be great either way. #WWEBattleground

But with little clarity regarding WWE champions, perhaps this is an indication that, at the very least, the tag team champions will be able to travel between brands. WWE could continue this feud by allowing The New Day to appear on both Raw and SmackDown since they are the current champions.
Instead of introducing a new set of tag team titles on SmackDown, which will dilute the championships themselves, why not ride the momentum that these two factions worked so diligently to create? The fact that Wyatt and Rowan are currently a duo on SmackDown is convenient, as it allows the two to compete as a pair.
The New Day vs. The Wyatt Family is a tale of opposites. The power of positivity against eternal damnation. The light at the end of the tunnel vs. pitch-black darkness. Hope vs. hate. These two foils have meshed perfectly, and instead of beating fans over the head with how opposite the two are, WWE has opted to blend Wyatt Family's values with Woods' own beliefs.
The result is a near-masterpiece that needs time to crystallize. After a fantastic matchup at Battleground, hopefully these two stables get all the time in the world.
