Seth Partnow of Nylon Calculus expected The Vertical's Adrian Wojnarowski to be first with the news, as he was on NBA draft night:

On one hand, Rollins and Ambrose wrestling on separate shows is a bit disappointing since it means their current feud is likely drawing to a close. And outside of any potential cross-promotional events, they won't be crossing paths anytime soon.
But the former Shield members can't wrestle each other forever, and having them serve as the flagship stars for Raw and SmackDown, respectively, will create fresh matchups for the two down the road.
The draft results do pose an interesting question regarding the WWE championship. Following Monday night's draw, Rollins and Ambrose are wrestling again Tuesday night with the title on the line. Then the champion will defend the belt in a Triple Threat match at Sunday's Battleground that includes Roman Reigns as well.
In past brand extensions, the WWE champion was the only wrestler the company allowed to span both Raw and SmackDown. That could be the case once again. Or WWE could resurrect the world heavyweight championship to ensure each show has its own world title, another strategy it used before.
Either way, the draft undoubtedly freshens up the product and sets the stage for some interesting storylines to unfold in the coming months.
