Draymond Green Comments on NBA Finals Loss, Playing with Kevin Durant and More
Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green is gearing up for the Summer Olympics with Team USA but can still feel the sting from his team's Game 7 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA Finals.
On Monday, Green spoke about Golden State's failure to repeat as the champion, among other topics, including the dynamic between him and Cavs guard Kyrie Irving, per ESPN.com's Ohm Youngmisuk:
"That will never wear off. We had an opportunity to win a championship. That never goes away. [But] you got to move on. ... Of course it is [still fresh]. But that don't mean I am coming into this like, "Oh man, I am mad at Kyrie." Number one, they beat us, so you respect that. Number two, we are here for this. It is not about anybody's personal feelings. It is about representing the country.
"
The newly minted U.S. Olympians were at a youth basketball camp in Harlem, New York. Among them was impending free agent Kevin Durant, whose Oklahoma City Thunder squad was up 3-1 on the Warriors in the conference finals but ultimately lost.
Durant has reportedly set up meetings with six teams, and one of them is Golden State, according to ESPN.com. Although Durant refused to discuss his future status, Green was asked how Durant's potential arrival in Oakland, California, could make the Dubs even better.
"I don't know," Green said in response, per Youngmisuk. "There's different dynamics to everything. At the end of the day, there is nothing set in stone. I don't worry about things I can't control."
Youngmisuk also reported that Durant said none of his Team USA teammates have put pressure on him regarding his free-agency situation, which bodes well for Team USA's unity.
Qualifying is ongoing for the Summer Olympics basketball tournament, which begins in Rio de Janeiro on Aug. 6.

The Americans figure to be the heavy favorites to seize the gold medal for the third consecutive time. There is at least some suspense involved, though, because superstars such as LeBron James and Stephen Curry declined their invitations to play.
Green is widely considered to be the Warriors' emotional leader, and it will be fascinating to see how his dynamic, often heated on-court personality works on the international stage.
There aren't many other fiery leaders on Team USA's 12-man roster, besides Sacramento Kings big man DeMarcus Cousins, whose teams haven't tasted success in the NBA. That leaves Green with plenty of room to step up on a squad that has an average age of 26.8 years old, per NBA.com.
During Golden State's record-setting 73-win regular season, Green averaged 14.0 points, 9.5 rebounds, 7.4 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.4 blocks per contest. His unique all-around game should be a huge asset for the U.S. as it seeks to reach the top of the podium again in Rio.
