LeBron James, Tyronn Lue Comment on Loss vs. Warriors in Game 2 of NBA Finals

Brian MarronJun 5, 2016

Following the Golden State Warriors' demolition of the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 2 of the NBA Finals on Sunday, Cavs superstar LeBron James and head coach Tyronn Lue believe their team needs to be sharper in every aspect of the game.

James acknowledged that his team struggled in the 110-77 loss, but he thinks there is plenty of room for improvement, per Sports Illustrated's Ben Golliver:

James, who finished with 19 points, nine assists, eight rebounds and seven turnovers, added that he is not disappointed with the play of his teammates but said the team needs to "do a better job," according to SportsCenter.

Lue echoed that sentiment. He said while the Cavaliers started strong in the first quarter, the Warriors consistently made "the tougher plays" throughout the night, via NBA TV:

He also emphasized that Cleveland is not discouraged despite being down 2-0 in the series, per Golliver:

Cleveland's supporting cast was ineffective Sunday. Kyrie Irving chipped in 10 points, three rebounds, three steals and one assist while committing three turnovers. Kevin Love played only 21 minutes because of a possible concussion, totaling five points and three rebounds.

Richard Jefferson was the only Cleveland role player to significantly contribute, finishing with 12 points and five rebounds off the bench. Irving, James and Jefferson were the only Cavaliers to score in double figures. As a team, Cleveland shot a measly 35.4 percent.

While James was solid, he was not perfect. He recorded a game-high seven turnovers and shot just 1-of-5 from three-point range. Lue addressed the Cavaliers' turnover situation after the game, via NBA TV:

Golden State finished with 20 turnovers on the night, while Cleveland had 17. The Cavaliers also outscored the Warriors 26-20 on points off turnovers, so they were not the deciding factor in the game.

Cleveland is 7-0 at home in the postseason, so it is technically still alive in the series. The team is 0-4 against the Warriors this year, though, so it needs to find a way to slow down the defending champions.

The Cavaliers may look to employ a smaller lineup in Game 3, with Jefferson and Channing Frye getting more minutes to space out the floor and defend the perimeter with their length, which is something guys such as Iman Shumpert and J.R. Smith have not done well thus far.
