Josh Scobee Released by Saints: Latest Details, Comments, Reaction
The New Orleans Saints have cut veteran kicker Josh Scobee, Evan Woodbery of NOLA.com reported on Tuesday.
Scobee's tenure with the Saints didn't last long, as he signed at the beginning of March.
He played just four games with the Pittsburgh Steelers last season before being cut. The Jacksonville Jaguars traded him to Pittsburgh after the first 11 seasons of his NFL career.

Scobee made 20 or more field goals in eight of his 11 seasons with Jacksonville on his way to an 80.8 percent success rate. He amassed 1,022 points, the most recorded by any Jaguar in the team's 21-year history.
In Pittsburgh, he hit a subpar six of 10 field goals in his four games and missed two field goals in a 23-20 Week 4 loss to the Baltimore Ravens, which prompted his release.
He was expected to compete with four-year veteran Kai Forbath for the starting job in New Orleans and talked Monday with Joel A. Erickson of the Advocate about what he had to do to get the No. 1 spot: "Make kicks. Our job is very much cut-and-dry: You made it or you didn’t. Obviously, a lot more goes into it than what people know, but to the outsider’s perspective it’s, ‘you made it or you didn’t.’ That’s how we have to treat it sometimes."
Now Scobee will have to look for a new home, which shouldn't be difficult given his lengthy resume in the league. With kicking being such a pressure-filled, changeable position, teams looking for a veteran option at the spot will probably be interested in him.
