Steven Adams Comments on Playing with Migraine Headache vs. Spurs

Brian MarronMay 12, 2016

After a 15-point, 11-rebound performance, Oklahoma City Thunder center Steven Adams revealed Thursday he dealt with a migraine before his team's 113-99 win over the San Antonio Spurs in Game 6.

The Pittsburgh Panthers product described the symptoms of the ailment during a postgame meeting with the press, via Anthony Slater of the Oklahoman:

According to Slater, Adams has been dealing with migraines since he was 14 years old. He also has no grip on managing the severe headaches.

"It’s really random," Adams said, per Slater. "Don’t even know. I’ve been seeing someone, trying to figure out what my trigger points are."

The migraines do not appear to be hindering him on the court, though. Adams was a disruptive force inside all night for the Thunder as he corralled five offensive rebounds and added a block.

Slater noted Adams has been a force throughout the postseason:

ESPN.com's Tim MacMahon compared Adams to another 7-footer:

The emergence of Adams as a stout rebounder and rim protector gives Oklahoma City perhaps the best frontcourt remaining in the playoffs. The Thunder can bring power with Adams along with some finesse and versatility with Serge Ibaka and Enes Kanter, which could give them an advantage on the glass against the Golden State Warriors in the Western Conference Finals.

The Warriors are more experienced and proven in the playoffs, but not necessarily more talented, setting up a tremendous clash that should be worthy of being a championship matchup.
