No Set Timetable for Olynyk's Return
Tuesday, May 17
The Celtics announced on Tuesday that Monday's surgery for Olynyk was "successful right shoulder arthroscopy for recurrent subluxations." While "the time frame for his return to basketball activities has not yet been determined," he will immediately start in a rehabilitation program.
Olynyk put together another solid season as part of a deep Boston frontcourt. He averaged 10 points and 4.1 rebounds while shooting 40.5 percent from three-point range during the regular season. Most of that production (61 of 69 games) came while playing off the bench.
A shoulder injury forced him to miss some time, though. He originally missed 12 games with the ailment after getting hurt in early February. He returned for the stretch run of the campaign before suffering a setback in the team's playoff opener against the Atlanta Hawks.
The silver lining for the surgery is the fact it occurred early in the offseason. Despite the lack of a timetable for return on Tuesday, the Gonzaga product has plenty of time to recover before the 2016-17 campaign.
