NBA Betting Preview: Golden State Warriors vs. San Antonio Spurs Odds, Analysis

OddsShark.comApr 10, 2016

The Golden State Warriors (71-9) and San Antonio Spurs (65-14) have been the two best teams in the NBA all year and seem destined to meet in the Western Conference Finals.

But until that happens, the top two seeds in the West will square off for a fourth and final time during the regular season in San Antonio on Sunday, with the Spurs listed as 5.5-point home favorites at sportsbooks monitored by Odds Shark.

The Warriors are coming off a 100-99 road victory against the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday, overturning a 10-point deficit to pull within two wins of posting the best record in league history.

They will be playing in a tough back-to-back situation here, though, and have gone just 2-5 against the spread the last seven times under that scenario, including an 87-79 loss at San Antonio as 4.5-point road underdogs on March 19.

The Spurs are looking to even up the regular-season series at two wins apiece after losing for the second time this term at Golden State on Thursday, 112-101. Sunday's host has won and covered the past five meetings in the series overall, according to the Odds Shark NBA Database. San Antonio has also beaten the Warriors 33 straight times at home during the regular season.

If the Spurs can pull off another victory here, they would not only prevent Golden State from finishing 73-9 but also move to within one win of becoming the first team ever to go unbeaten at home.

San Antonio head coach Gregg Popovich opted to play all of his starters in the last meeting with the Warriors but then gave Kawhi Leonard, LaMarcus Aldridge, Tony Parker and Danny Green the night off in a 102-98 road loss to the Denver Nuggets on Friday.

The Spurs had not lost consecutive games this season before that setback, and they have not dropped three in a row since February 23, 2015. Another loss here would likely mean the team rests its players for the final two games of the regular season with nothing to play for.

Needless to say, this is a massive game for both teams as they try to move one step closer to making history. San Antonio held Golden State to a season-low points total in its lone win in the series this season, and the under is 4-1 in the past five meetings on the NBA betting lines.
