Warriors Become 1st Team with 1,000 3-Pointers Made in Season
The Golden State Warriors made their 1,000th three-point shot of the season during Sunday's 136-111 win over the Portland Trail Blazers, further extending their NBA single-season record for most three-pointers made by a team, per NBA.com/Stats on Twitter.
Fittingly enough, reigning MVP Stephen Curry made the milestone shot. He sunk nine of his 13 shots from beyond the arc in a game that was closer than the final score would seem to indicate.
Curry has once again bested his own record for most three-pointers made by an individual in a season, having made 378 of his 823 attempts (45.9) from distance.
With fellow guard Klay Thompson adding another 262, the Golden State starting backcourt has combined for 640 three-pointers made, which is more than 14 teams have as a whole.
The Warriors finished Sunday's game with 1,013 three-pointers this season, putting them 196 ahead of the second-place Blazers and Cleveland Cavaliers (817 apiece).
The old single-season team record for three-pointers made was 933, set by the Houston Rockets just last year, though the team converted only 34.8 percent of its attempts, which was 14th-best in the league.
The Warriors, on the other hand, have made 41.8 percent of their three-point tries this season, easily ranking tops in the NBA.
