Wizards Pull April Fools' Day Prank on Markieff Morris in His Return to Phoenix
Markieff Morris spent the first four-plus years of his NBA career playing for the Phoenix Suns, so having an orange jersey at his locker at Talking Stick Resort Arena never used to be weird.
Now that he's a member of the Washington Wizards, it definitely was. And it's a bit cruel.
Morris didn't leave Phoenix on the best of terms—he demanded a trade after his brother, Marcus, got dealt to the Detroit Pistons last year. The Suns didn't initially give in to the request, but when February rolled around, the team dealt the forward to Washington.
Friday marked Morris' first trip back to Phoenix since he was traded—and it just happened to be April Fools' Day. The Wizards had some fun with their teammate by putting a Suns uniform and nameplate in Morris' locker.
Well played.
Morris may not think highly of the Phoenix organization these days, but hopefully the 26-year-old is able to appreciate a good prank.
When it came time for the game to be played, Washington had to be happy Morris was on its squad. The 6'10" forward posted 21 points, nine rebounds and four blocks in a 106-99 victory over his former team.
