Carroll Important to Raptors' Frontcourt Success
Coming off a career year in 2014-15 with the Atlanta Hawks, Carroll was expected to be a big part of Toronto's rise in the Eastern Conference this season. The 29-year-old has not been able to capitalize on that chance because of injuries.
Carroll averaged 11.0 points and 4.7 rebounds per game while shooting 38.9 percent from the field. He missed three months after suffering a knee injury that required arthroscopic surgery in January.
On March 29, Ryan Wolstat of the Toronto Sun reported that "only a deep playoff run" would likely allow Carroll to return this year after he suffered a setback in his recovery.
However, Carroll did return in time for Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals against the Indiana Pacers and was in the starting lineup two days later.
Head coach Dwane Casey has done an excellent job of rotating DeRozan, Terrence Ross and James Johnson at the small forward position, but getting Carroll back only adds to their depth and versatility.
