Warriors Extend NBA-Record Home Winning Streak to 50 Games
The Golden State Warriors extended their NBA-record home winning streak to 50 games with Wednesday's 121-85 blowout victory over the New York Knicks, per NBA.com/stats.
Having already smashed the Chicago Bulls' old record of 44 consecutive home wins (1995-96), the Warriors are now just nine games away from becoming the first team to finish an NBA season with a perfect 41-0 record at home.
Of course, the San Antonio Spurs are vying for the same honor, with their own home winning streak (42 games) also dating back to last season and ranking as the third-longest in league history.
To make matters more interesting, the Spurs and Warriors have three meetings remaining on the schedule, with two of those coming in San Antonio, including Saturday's nationally televised clash.
The Warriors would surely love to come away with a victory, which would all but lock up the Western Conference's top seed, in addition to assuring that only one team can post an undefeated home record this season.
Granted, the record the Warriors truly have their eyes on is the single-season win mark of 72, set by the legendary 1995-96 Bulls team that was also part of the then-record 44-game home winning streak.
Although Golden State's remaining schedule looks pretty manageable, the trio of meetings with San Antonio could go a long way toward mucking up the Warriors' shot at making history.
