Awesome Kong Would Be Monster Heel WWE's Divas Division Desperately Needs
To complete the menagerie that is the Divas division, WWE would be smart to bring in a bear by the name of Awesome Kong.
Kong remains an imposing presence, a powerhouse who would catapult an improving subsection of the WWE world. Adding Kong (who previously performed for WWE as Kharma) would multiply the company's options, diversify the women's division and give fans that dominant run they never got to see her go on.
After a backstage incident at TNA, she's suddenly a free agent.

At the end of January, word emerged that Kong and Reby Sky had clashed in the locker room. F4WOnline.com's Dave Meltzer reported that brewing issues between the two led to a fight. TNA then cut ties with Kong.
TNA announced on its official website, "Following a physical altercation in the locker room last week during IMPACT WRESTLING’s UK Tour, TNA announces today the release of Awesome Kong (Kia Stevens)."
Not surprisingly, WWE fans have begun to wonder if a run with the company she only briefly worked for a few years ago would be her next step. Teases on Instagram generated buzz about that very possibility.
Several wrestling news outlets shared Instagram images and videos from an account claiming to be Kong's, which hinted at a possible WWE return.
She didn't post those, though. Kong later tweeted that she doesn't have an Instagram account:
The question remains, however, whether WWE would welcome her back. If it did, the division would instantly earn a boost.
Even with her slowing down at age 38, she is still a valuable asset. As Jim Ross wrote on his blog, "Kong has the ability to help any company."
Kong hasn't looked nearly as good in her recent matches but has still pulled off strong performances, especially opposite Gail Kim. On ProWrestling.net, John Moore wrote of Kong's tournament match against Kim: "While the athleticism might not be there for Kong these days, she still works very well with her long time dance partner."
The kind of matches that Kim and Kong have had over the years are the ones fans of women's wrestling have wanted to see more of from WWE.
Bringing her back now would open the door for her to collide with Sasha Banks in a rivalry with great potential. Banks could play the Kim role in that spot, the athletic underdog working to fell a Goliath.
And as talented as The Boss is, there's a major chance for a classic or two to come out of that feud.
Kong would also be a welcome change of page in the division. WWE has showboats and cocky heels aplenty on the roster. There is no female Brock Lesnar, however. There is no predatory titan to run roughshod in the ring.
That's where Kong would come in.
Should she return, the division instantly benefits. There would then be a monster for WWE's heroes to vanquish. There would be a means to tell stories like those we have seen from Lesnar, Mark Henry and Rusev.
Suddenly Charlotte could have an intimidating bodyguard at her side. Paige could have a fresh opponent capable of delivering a slugfest for the ages with her. Becky Lynch could have another talented heel to gut it out against.
And if WWE wanted to elevate Nia Jax as the next great female wrecking ball, it could have her and Kong go to war. That passing-of-the-torch bout is among the many options that would materialize with Kong around.
Besides, WWE fans got cheated during her last tenure with the company.
Vignette announced Kong's arrival. She took out several Divas, pouncing on them to the crowd's delight.
She soon informed the audience in a speech on Raw that she was pregnant and would be taking a hiatus. She never came back, instead going back to TNA once more.
Fans never got to see her deliver the destruction she promised. They never saw her storyline hatred of the Bellas lead to anything.
Completing that unfinished narrative and beginning new ones would further boost a women's division on the rise.
WWE simply has to establish with Kong that there will be a no-tolerance policy regarding further backstage incidents. Give her a short leash. Give her a second chance.
Just put her to work doing what she does best. The women's division and WWE as a whole will be better for it.
