WWE NXT Results: Winners, Grades, Reaction and Highlights from February 10
A friendship was set aside Wednesday night when NXT hit the WWE Network airwaves for its weekly broadcast, headlined by a women's championship bout between Bayley and Carmella.
The two best friends battled it out for the right to hold the top prize in women's wrestling but, as fans found out after the bell, other Divas had their sights set on the gold.
Which half of "Baymella" would leave with the title, and who would take exception?
Elsewhere on the card, Alexa Bliss looked to keep herself in contention for a shot at the same title as she squared off with Cameron. Would she glitter, glitz, sparkle and bliss her way to a victory, or would her main roster opponent spoil her aspirations of gold?
The Hype Bros, Baron Corbin and Elias Samson were all in action Wednesday night.
Which Superstars picked up much-needed wins, and who lost considerable momentum as the build to TakeOver: Dallas began?
Find out the answer to all of those questions now.
Johnny Gargano vs. Baron Corbin
1 of 5Johnny Gargano looked to jump-start a win streak. To do so, though, he would have to overcome the nasty and determined Baron Corbin.
The Lone Wolf blasted Gargano with a hard right, cutting off his early momentum and seizing control of the match.
Corbin got cocky, landing Deep Six but taking his time to make the cover—something Gargano made him pay for with a quick kick.
The NXT mainstay Corbin would recover, though, and deliver End of Days to score the pinfall victory.
Result
Baron Corbin defeated Johnny Gargano.

Analysis
Corey Graves, maybe the sport's most underrated announcer, did a phenomenal job of telling the narrative of the match. Corbin was the frustrated villain—his spot in the title hunt eliminated by general manager William Regal.
To his credit, Corbin backed Graves up, displaying aggression but also allowing arrogance to disrupt his focus, and it nearly cost him.
The big man vs. little man formula was played to perfection, with the ultra-talented Gargano serving as a much better, more impressive opponent for Corbin than some of the other nameless enhancement talents that have come through the brand.
Overall, it was a great way to kick off Wednesday's broadcast.
The Hype Bros in Action
2 of 5
Zack Ryder and Mojo Rawley looked to build momentum for themselves following a recent loss to The Vaudevillains as they squared off with perennial enhancement team John Skyler and Corey Hollis.
As has been the template for most of their matches, Ryder found himself on the receiving end of a brief beatdown before making the hot tag to Rawley.
The most hyped Superstar in NXT exploded into the match and delivered a Stinger Splash. Ryder joined him, caught his opponent with the Broski Boot and the babyface duo finished their opponents off with the Hype Ryder.
Result
The Hype Ryder defeated Corey Hollis and John Skyler.

Analysis
If you've seen one Hype Bros squash, you've seen them all. Why management continues to build momentum with them just to have them lose when it counts is a question that only it can answer.
Hollis and Skyler have become a strong enhancement team, the likes of which WWE has not had in years. Much like Power and Glory toward the end of its run in the company, they get enough television time to stay relevant but are essentially glorified job guys.
As they continue to learn and grow, it would not surprise this writer to see them gain somewhat of a push, not unlike Dash and Dawson did, even if it is not on the same level.
Cameron vs. Alexa Bliss
3 of 5Alexa Bliss returned to the squared circle Wednesday, with her dreams of catapulting back into contention for the NXT Women's Championship still alive. To maintain her position as one of the top female competitors on the roster, she would have to defeat main roster Diva Cameron, who has seen more action in front of the developmental brand fans than on Raw and SmackDown of late.
A rare heel vs. heel match, both women took turns working over the other.
Bliss weathered a spinning facebuster and neckbreaker, then responded with her signature handspring knee drop and finished with the Sparkle Splash for the pinfall victory.
Result
Alexa Bliss defeated Cameron.
Grade
C-
Analysis
Bliss is developing into a very strong worker, but Cameron is hardly the wrestler to have a great match with.
The heel vs. heel dynamic also really hurt the quality of the match, especially when Cameron was on the offensive. Not to pile on the former Funkadactyl, but she is in the ring so infrequently that she really has no time to improve as a wrestler. Thus, any match she is in hurts as a result.
Bliss is poised to be a major player in the Divas division for years to come but, unfortunately, will need some of the heels to clear out to firmly establish herself.
Jesse Sorensen vs. Elias Samson
4 of 5
Elias Samson battled Jesse Sorensen in the night's most uninteresting squash match.
Samson used his knee throughout, smashing his opponent in the face and even choking him with it—almost as if he forgot how to punch or kick, or do literally anything else.
His generic neckbreaker finished the former TNA star in short order.
Result
Elias Samson defeated Jesse Sorensen.
Grade
F
Analysis
Elias Samson has done nothing to impress to this point. At first, it felt like the squash-match format was hampering his performance, but nothing has changed with his performance. It is far too bland, and he relies far too much on knee strikes.
He is one-dimensional, the character has been underdeveloped and the fans are not buying into him.
If management is not careful, Samson will fail at a time when the rest of NXT is thriving.
NXT Women's Championship Match: Bayley vs. Carmella
5 of 5Two friends waged war over the NXT Women's Championship Wednesday night, proving championship allure knows no limits.
Champion Bayley and No. 1 contender Carmella squared off in the show's main event, accompanied by big match-title introductions and a hot crowd.
The Princess of Staten Island busted out a suicide dive—the stage not too big for her or her dreams of holding championship gold. A second netted her a two-count. A Flatliner and the leg choke looked to have Bayley on the verge of dropping her title, but the resilient champion slipped out, keeping her reign alive.
The competitors traded pinfall attempts late, but it was Bayley who held the greatest leverage, scoring the win and retaining her title in a hard-fought bout.
After the match, Eva Marie and Nia Jax attacked Carmella, but it was Asuka's appearance that not only chased the heels away but also teased a future match with Bayley as she stared the champion down.
Result
Bayley pinned Carmella.
Grade
B-
Analysis
If anyone doubts Bayley's greatness as a performer, look no further than her matches with Nia Jax, Alexa Bliss, Eva Marie and Carmella. All four of those Divas are less experienced, but all have upped their game, delivering strong performances in an attempt to perform up to the champion's level. She drags their best out of them and helps carry them to extraordinary matches.
Outside of the actual wrestling, this was a great bit of storytelling, with Jax and Eva Marie re-establishing themselves as threats to Bayley's title and Asuka playing the role of wild card, with her sights focused solely on the women's title regardless of who holds it.
The result is an intriguing, compelling title picture with interesting characters and subplots.
