WWE Rumors on The Rock vs. Roman Reigns, Bayley's Contract and New Day & Ilja Dragunov in AEW

Doubt Reportedly Mounting for The Rock vs. Reigns at WM 43

The Rock vs. Roman Reigns has arguably been the biggest and most-talked-about dream match in wrestling for the past several years, but there is reportedly still no sign that it will come to fruition any time soon.

According to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio (h/t Cain A. Knight of Cageside Seats), it is far from certain that the Saudi Arabian government would be willing and able to meet The Rock's asking price to have a match at WrestleMania 43 in Saudi Arabia.

Meltzer added that "there's definitely people behind the scenes" who believe "the never-ending money supply" provided by Saudi Arabia to WWE and other sports and entertainment organizations "may not be never-ending anymore."

On top of that, Vin Diesel recently told Jack Dunn and Marc Malkin of Variety that filming for the latest installment of the Fast & Furious movie franchise, Fast Forever, will begin filming in December.

If that is the case, it could complicate The Rock's path to WrestleMania 43 since he is set to be one of the stars of Fast Forever.

As much as fans would undoubtedly love to see The Rock vs. Reigns on the WrestleMania stage, it isn't as if WWE is without options should The Rock not commit to participating in WrestleMania 43.

The most obvious option for Reigns if The Rock is off the table is Oba Femi, who called Reigns out after beating Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 42.

Bayley Reportedly Expected to Re-Sign with WWE

Despite speculation about her potentially jumping ship to AEW, it is reportedly expected that Bayley will re-sign with WWE.

According to Meltzer (h/t Wrestle Features), Bayley is "pretty much a lock" to sign a new WWE deal.

Meltzer (h/t Derek Holloway of Ringside News) previously said, "The frequent mentions of [Bayley] on Raw this week would indicate to me that they expect her back. If they believed she might be leaving, they would not mention her name."

Bayley has indeed been mentioned often in recent weeks by Lyra Valkyria, who beat Bayley in what was her last televised match at Saturday Night's Main Event.

Valkyria has been bragging about running Bayley out of the company, and based on WWE's usual practices, the company wouldn't necessarily draw attention to Bayley if it felt she was going to leave for AEW or another promotion.

While the exact status of Bayley's contract talks with WWE are unknown, Bryan Alvarez of Wrestling Observer Radio (h/t WrestlingInc.com's Julien D'Alessandro) recently said he had been told by a source that her contract expires in January.

That means WWE still has about four months to get Bayley locked into a long-term agreement if that hasn't happened already.

Bayley has links to AEW with longtime friend Mercedes Mone being the most obvious example, but she is also deeply rooted in WWE, having been with the company since 2012.

AEW's Reported Interest in New Day, Dragunov

With AEW's biggest pay-per-view of the year, All In, set for Sunday, rumors are running rampant regarding some potential new additions to the roster.

According to WrestleVotes on Fightful Select (h/t Knight), people in AEW expected New Day to make their debut for the company at All In, which they are now free and clear to do following their WWE departure nearly four months ago.

Alvarez (h/t Knight) added that Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods will most likely be part of the Trios Roulette Royale as a mystery partner for Swerve Strickland.

That match is scheduled to start on the pre-show before spilling over into the start of the pay-per-view, and having New Day debut as surprise entrants would be a strong way for AEW to kick off the show.

Another wrestler believed to be on AEW's radar is Ilja Dragunov, who recently left WWE as well.

Per WrestleVotes on Fightful Select (h/t Knight), a source within AEW expects the company to attempt to sign Dragunov soon, if it hasn't done so already.

Meanwhile, WWE sources told WrestleVotes that Dragunov is not expected back with WWE any time soon.

PWInsider.com (h/t WrestlePurists) reported that Dragunov allowed his WWE contract to expire in order to become a free agent, rather than re-signing with the company.

That means no 90-day non-compete clause applies to him, and he could conceivably debut for AEW at All In, potentially in the Casino Gauntlet match, should he decide to sign with the promotion.
