Redskins Clinch NFC East: Latest Comments and Reaction

Alec NathanDec 26, 2015

The Washington Redskins captured their second NFC East title in four seasons Saturday night with a 38-24 win over the Philadelphia Eagles, which means they're slated to host a first-round playoff game in just two weeks.

But with their postseason opponent still to be determined, the Redskins kicked back and celebrated their win in style after quarterback Kirk Cousins exploded for 365 yards and four touchdowns.

"This is the most satisfied I've been as a player," Cousins said, per the Redskins' official Twitter account. "It's a big accomplishment. Now we need to build from here."

According to the Elias Sports Bureau (via ESPN Stats & Info), Cousins is the first quarterback in franchise history to throw for at least 300 yards and four touchdowns in back-to-back games.

As a result, NFL.com's Gregg Rosenthal believes the 27-year-old signal-caller is in for a raise in the offseason:

DeSean Jackson and some of his Redskins teammates had a blast while celebrating Saturday's victory over the wideout's former team, as Washington's Twitter account documented:

"We felt like we were an up-and-coming football team and could compete with anyone," Washington head coach Jay Gruden added, per the Redskins' Twitter account.

As long as the team keeps embracing that attitude, it figures to be a tough out for even the most stout NFC contenders come playoff time. Although the Redskins aren't the flashiest squad, they have offered plenty of substance in the scoring column with Cousins at the helm.

The Redskins' 16th-ranked scoring defense could hinder the team in the postseason, but pulling off stunners has become Washington's primary mode of operation over the past few weeks. Don't be surprised if a few more are in order when the second season arrives.
