Minnesota 'Unwilling' to Move Muhammad

Wojnarowski added "several teams" have expressed interest in Muhammad but noted rival executives believe the Timberwolves have no desire to ship him to another team.
At present, the Timberwolves' reluctance to part with the 23-year-old makes plenty of sense. Although Muhammad's minutes have dropped from 22.8 per game last season to 17.6 per game this year, he's still loaded with untapped potential.
Last season, the UCLA product averaged 13.5 points and 4.1 rebounds on 48.9 percent shooting from the field and 39.2 percent from three before he suffered a season-ending ligament tear in his left middle finger.
Additionally, Muhammad is signed to team-friendly rookie deal for another season-and-a-half before the Timberwolves owe him a modest $4.2 million qualifying offer, according to BasketballInsiders.com.
As a result, the Timberwolves may not be in a rush to deal Muhammad until he's in the final year of his deal. If next year's trade deadline rolls around and the team decides it doesn't want to pony up cash in restricted free agency to keep the swingman, then a trade would feel like a natural move for both sides.
In the meantime, it's on head coach Sam Mitchell to try to carve out a bigger role for Muhammad in a wing rotation that includes Andrew Wiggins, Tayshaun Prince and Kevin Martin.
