Chris Matthews to Ravens: Latest Contract Details, Comments, Reaction
The Baltimore Ravens signed former Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Chris Matthews to their practice squad on Monday.
Jeff Zrebiec of the Baltimore Sun reported the news, and the Ravens confirmed their acquisition of the 26-year-old who boasts a 6'5", 218-pound frame.
Matthews broke out in a big way during Super Bowl XLIX with four receptions for 109 yards and a touchdown in the Seahawks' 28-24 loss to the New England Patriots. Unfortunately for Seattle, he was unable to build on that performance and logged only four receptions in 2015 before being waived last Tuesday.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
The Ravens are rather desperate at the wide receiver position and on offense in general. They could promote Matthews to the active roster in short order, but he is attempting to learn a new system, which may minimize his impact.
After losing star wideout Steve Smith Sr. to a torn Achilles in Week 8 and getting nothing out of injured first-round pick Breshad Perriman, Baltimore suffered two more devastating blows this Sunday.
Quarterback Joe Flacco suffered a torn ACL and a torn MCL in a 16-13 win over the St. Louis Rams, per Pro Football Talk's Josh Alper, while running back Justin Forsett broke his right arm, as reported by BaltimoreRavens.com's Garrett Downing.
Not only are the Ravens bereft of viable playmakers, but their field general who hasn't missed a start since beginning his NFL career in 2008 is suddenly sidelined for a lengthy period of time. That means Matthews may earn a promotion and perhaps be able to audition his talents better than he could for the Seahawks as a showcase to potential suitors in 2016.
Veteran Matt Schaub has seen his play decline sharply in recent years and won't have much of a supporting cast to throw to when he starts on the road against the Cleveland Browns in Week 12's Monday night matchup.
If Schaub can't step up and show vast improvement, Matthews won't make much of an impression in his Baltimore stint.
