The Lions confirmed Moore is available to play against New Orleans.
Lions Will Welcome Back Veteran Presence at WR
Detroit signed Moore this past offseason as a complement to Calvin Johnson and Golden Tate. While Moore hasn't put up big numbers, with just 26 receptions for 307 yards and four touchdowns entering Week 12, he has brought a certain level of savvy and experience to the table. He had one reception for 14 yards prior to exiting against the Eagles.
Per Lynn Henning of the Detroit News, former Lions offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi praised Moore's ability to connect with his quarterbacks:
"I haven't been around many guys that have as good a feel as he does. ... He's just one of those guys. Quarterbacks end up getting a real high comfort level with him, because he's where they think he's going to be. He does smart things. And he does things that quarterbacks expect him to do. He's so good at relaying to a quarterback what he's going to do, how he runs routes. It's not always going to be the same every time.
"
Before spending the 2014 season with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Moore was a member of the New Orleans Saints for eight years.
In addition to winning a Super Bowl with the Saints, he once surpassed 1,000 receiving yards in a single season and caught 38 touchdowns during his tenure.
The former Toledo standout isn't as quick or explosive as he was earlier in his career, but he still has great hands and knows how to find the empty spots left by opposing defenses.
The 2015 season has been an extremely difficult one for the Lions after making the playoffs last year, and while Moore's return won't necessarily cure a season that was already failing, it will be a welcome sight.
