Bryant Unable to Shake Injury Bug in 2015
Bryant broke a bone in his foot during Dallas' second game of the season, which caused him to sit out until the team's Week 8 contest against the Seattle Seahawks.
It didn't take long for the former Oklahoma State standout to return to form, as he caught five passes for 104 yards and a touchdown against the rival Philadelphia Eagles in Week 9. Even so, questions remained regarding his health.
Bryant missed some practice time following Dallas' narrow loss to Philadelphia, as he banged his knee on a Hail Mary-esque touchdown connection with Matt Cassel.
He played in all 16 regular-season games those years, so it's safe to say luck simply hasn't been on Bryant's side.
The same can be said for the Cowboys as a whole, as they have dealt with a number of significant injuries, including quarterback Tony Romo's broken collarbone.
Bryant's importance from a statistical perspective is obvious, as he topped 1,200 receiving yards and scored at least 12 touchdowns every year from 2012 through 2014. He has only 401 yards and three touchdowns this season.
An underrated aspect of Bryant's contribution to the team, though, is his on-field leadership, as described by running back Darren McFadden to the Dallas Morning News.
"Dez has great passion for the game," McFadden said. "His passion can come off the wrong way to different people but I love him as a teammate. He's a great teammate, man. He's going to get you going and have you motivated but I love his personality. He's the type of guy you want on your team."
The 2015 season was one to forget for Bryant and the Cowboys. Bryant's trip to injured reserve was a disappointing conclusion, but it was more important for the star wide receiver to get healthy so he can return to form for next season.
