Warriors Set Record for Scoring Margin Through 4 Games

Even by their own lofty standards, the defending-champion Golden State Warriors are off to a phenomenal start this season, with their plus-100 point differential setting a new NBA record for the first four games of a campaign, per ESPN Stats & Info.

The old record of plus-99 was set by the 1961-62 Boston Celtics, a squad that finished the season with a 60-20 record on its way to the fourth of eight consecutive NBA championships.

Looking to start a title streak of their own, the Warriors have thus far won every game by at least 14 points, notably beating the Memphis Grizzlies by a score of 119-69 (a 50-point margin) on Monday.

Reigning MVP guard Stephen Curry has unsurprisingly been the catalyst, leading his team in scoring in each of the first four games, with 25 or more points in every contest.

The 27-year-old superstar is averaging 37.0 points, 6.3 assists and 5.0 rebounds over just 31.8 minutes per game, with a field-goal percentage of 59.5 percent and a three-point percentage of 48.8 percent.

Although he obviously won't come close to maintaining those outrageous numbers, Curry does look like a good bet to take home MVP honors for a second straight year.

For now, he'll simply try to get his team to 5-0, with the Warriors and Los Angeles Clippers squaring off in a marquee matchup Wednesday night.
