Chelsea vs. Liverpool: Jurgen Klopp Talks Jose Mourinho and More in Presser

Tom SunderlandOct 30, 2015

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp will look to seal his first Premier League victory when his side travel to face Chelsea on Saturday.

Taking on the Blues boss in the Premier League will be a completely new experience for Klopp, but the German tactician added that the hint of unpredictability goes both ways, per the Mirror's Liam Prenderville:

“I know nothing about his methods. I’ve never been in training with him. You can see how they play but I don’t know enough. In the same way, I don’t think anybody knows enough about me. It’s all speculation.”

Dortmund's head coach Juergen Klopp (L) and Real Madrid's Portuguese coach Jose Mourinho greet each other before the UEFA Champions League semi final first leg football match between Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid on April 24, 2013 in Dortmund, western

Mourinho's reputation has taken an unfamiliar hit this term and resulted in several outbursts from the Portuguese, but Klopp detailed his relationship with the Special One as positive: “I am full of respect for Jose. He’s a nice guy, during the game we are both emotional but we are professional. Everything is OK between us.”

The Mirror's Matt Lewis went on to quote Klopp, saying he's particularly nice if you're not "a journalist or referee," while James Pearce of the Liverpool Echo provided further context on their background:

Liverpool are unbeaten under Klopp and claimed their first win by his hand on Wednesday thanks to their 1-0 victory over Bournemouth in the Capital One Cup.

The Reds make the trip to Stamford Bridge sitting in ninth place and three points above 15th-place Chelsea, but Klopp was only too quick to acknowledge that while the west London outfit are out of form, they're far from easy prey:

"

You think Tottenham was easy? Southampton? Chelsea, no it’s not easy but we’ve had tough games. Do Chelsea’s players not know how to play football anymore? Of course they do. You know how Chelsea play, very good defence and structure and a lot of quality to finish the situations. They have a lot of great players.

It’s difficult to play against Chelsea but it’s not impossible. It’s not easy to face them. It will be my first time there at the stadium. I’m looking forward to it.

"

Mourinho's men have won just once in their last seven outings, but a win at Stamford Bridge will nonetheless be tough for the visitors, who have scored only three goals in four games under Klopp.

However, the ex-Borussia Dortmund manager was quoted by Squawka, stating that "doing this job for 15 years" has earned him some big results, while noting it's not the same high-profile clash of years gone by:

The Merseysiders' hopes of stripping three points from Chelsea have been aided by the return of Christian Benteke, but Pearce confirmed Daniel Sturridge isn't yet ready to come back into the team.

Aside from Saturday's key clash, the former Mainz man also told how he intends to take a hands-on approach when it comes to the development of younger players and those out on loan, per Prenderville:

"

We will try to do our best for our players. I think about this very often. They are given a chance to learn. I’m not sure it’s always the best to send young players to other clubs. Part of my job is to watch the players out on loan. There will be a time when we have to make a decision about them.

"

Handing first-team opportunities to those up-and-coming talents is something that bodes well for the likes of Jordon Ibe and Divock Origi, both of whom have been involved in the first team this season.

Saturday's fixture is a make-or-break meeting for both teams in that a win would have a rallying effect on either manager's crusade, and Klopp could have a big hand in furthering Mourinho's woes this season.
