Barcelona Transfer News: Pedro Reportedly Regrets Chelsea Move, Latest Rumours

Rory MarsdenOct 29, 2015

Former Barcelona star Pedro Rodriguez is reportedly rueing his summer move from Camp Nou to Chelsea and would be open to a return to Catalonia.

Pedro departed Barca for Stamford Bridge in the summer,ย citingย aย lack of game time at Camp Nouย as a reason for his switch, but he has failed to make a significant impact for the Blues amid their disastrous start to the season.

According to Spanish outletย Fichajesย (h/tย Metro's Mark Brus), Pedro has admitted to Blues team-mate and former Barca player Cesc Fabregas he is now regretting his summer move away from the Catalans.ย

Chelsea signed Pedro for ยฃ21 million in August. He immediately made an impact, scoring a goal on his debut in a 3-2 victory over West Bromwich Albion.

However, Pedro's fortunes have since mirrored those of his new club, the 28-year-oldย struggling for form as Jose Mourinho's defending champions have lost five of their opening 10 games of the Premier League season.

Conversely, Barcelona are typically challenging at the top of La Liga and are currently tied on points with league leaders Real Madrid.

Ironically, given the reasons for Pedro's departure, the Spaniard would likely have enjoyed increased game time at Barca this season had he stayed put.

Luis Enrique's side are currently lacking in attacking depth following long-term injuries to Lionel Messi and Rafinha, per Bleacher Report's Sam Tighe:

Chelsea have a recent history of making big-money signings who fail to settle at Stamford Bridge.

Left-back Filipe Luis returned to Atletico Madrid in the summer after only a season in west London. And ยฃ23.3 million February singing Juan Cuadrado was loaned to Juventus in August after failing to make an impact in Chelsea's first team.

Pedro could be another of the Blues' misjudgedย purchases, but it is far too early to condemn him as a failure just yet.

Both Pedro and Chelsea have more than enough quality to turn their current form around, and the Spain international will undoubtedly start enjoying life more if and when he and the Blues start playing well.

While Pedro is reportedly considering a move back to Camp Nou, Barcelona youngsterย Sergi Samper could be set for a move away.

According to Alex Harris in theย Daily Star, the 20-year-old midfielder is drawing interest from Manchester United and Arsenal, and his ยฃ8.5 million buyout clause would be easily affordable for the Premier League giants.ย

Samper is a highly rated graduate of Barca's famedย Masia academy, and he will surely be eager to stay and fight for a first-team spot at Camp Nou.

But he could be tempted by theย prospectย of Premier League footballย if either United or Arsenal try to sign him.
