Warriors Championship Banner, Ring Ceremony Twitter Reaction and Highlights

Matt FitzgeraldOct 27, 2015

The Golden State Warriors raised their 2014-15 NBA championship banner prior to Tuesday's season opener against the New Orleans Pelicans at Oracle Arena in Oakland, California.

Doors to the Larry O'Brien Trophy holders' home court opened at 5:30 p.m. local time, per NBA.com, approximately two hours before the scheduled tipoff, so fans could settle in and bear witness to the spectacle.

The Warriors' Twitter account passed along video of the championship banner being unveiled:

But there were numerous other events that took place before that moment that were worth documenting as well.

The NBA's Twitter account revealed the championship jumpsuits Golden State players donned for warmups:

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver was on hand to deliver a rousing introduction before team owners Joe Lacob and Peter Guber received their championship rings. Team president Rick Welts was next in line for the prestigious jewelry and was followed by other executives, the coaching staff and finally the players.

Shea Serrano of Grantland was among those who appreciated Silver's interaction with the ring recipients:

The Warriors posted video of reigning NBA MVP Stephen Curry receiving his ring, along with NBA Finals MVP Andre Iguodala:

The NBA on TNT highlighted some of the extraordinary achievements by the Dubs last season, including Curry's sensational individual performance:

Janie McCauley of the Associated Press captured part of the highlight reel that played at Oracle before the team receiving its hardware:

In addition to honoring last season's team, the organization recognized its three other championship squads.

Howie Dallmar Jr., Walt Davis and Rick Barry represented the 1947, 1956 and 1975 title teams, per NBA.com. The focus was on the modern stars who helped the Warriors break a 40-year title drought, though.

Just before the championship banner went up, Curry made a speech, thanking his teammates and the fans.

Curry said the 1974-75 banner was lonely in the Oracle Arena rafters. That is no longer the case thanks to last season's 67-win team, which ranks among the best squads in NBA history.

Former Warriors point guard Baron Davis was among those to congratulate the team following the conclusion of the ceremony:

Golden State's quest for a repeat begins with a formidable opponent in the Pelicans, who are coached by Alvin Gentry, an assistant for the Warriors last season who took part in the ring ceremony.

Outspoken Dubs star Draymond Green had some interesting comments on that dynamic, per the NBA on ESPN:

The Warriors swept New Orleans in the opening round of last season's playoffs. But the Pelicans boast a solid roster headlined by superstar big man Anthony Davis—a legitimate challenger to Curry for MVP honors this year.

The Western Conference was and is loaded with talented teams. It's a testament to the Dubs' dominance in 2014-15 that they were able to run away with the West's best regular-season record by 11 games.

Almost everyone from Golden State's nucleus has returned, too. With their exceptional depth, team chemistry and championship play, there's reason to believe the Warriors can win the title again.
