WWE Hell in a Cell 2015 Results: Power Ranking Every Match at PPV

Aaron BowerOct 27, 2015

As expected, WWE Hell in a Cell 2015 threw up some matches that were unmissable and some that could have easily been left to one side.

A combination of the enthralling and the entertaining as well as the uninspiring made for a mixed night in general, with some bouts faring better than others.

Whether that was because of an exciting swerve or just the quality inside the ring, some matches deservedly sit higher on this list than others.

Here's a power ranking of how all seven matches on the main card fared at Hell in a Cell.

7. Kevin Owens vs. Ryback

1 of 7

It seems a real shame to put a Kevin Owens bout at the bottom of the pile, but sadly that’s where this one belongs.

When the curtain falls on KO’s Intercontinental Championship reign in the months to come, this will go down as one of the most forgettable matches of the lot.

It lacked any real spark and any highlights to speak of. Worst of all, the controversial ending from Owens was barely commented upon, which could have at least made him feel like much more of a heel.

It’s clear both of these guys need now foes and new directions. What WWE does with Owens will be perhaps most intriguing, as he is certainly one of its biggest rough diamonds.

6. The New Day vs. The Dudley Boyz

2 of 7

Although The New Day has been working magic outside the ring and on the microphone, this was a disappointing night inside the ring.

The heel faction's bouts with The Dudley Boyz have arguably shown more entertainment when they’ve featured dialogue rather than hand-to-hand combat.

This was a tepid and stop-start match which sadly never really got going at all.

It was one that felt like a relief when it ended, as some peculiar dancing from the challengers only added to the confusion and the disappointment.

Their feud is almost certain to continue into Survivor Series, where a change of strategy is needed to enhance the tag division again.

5. Seth Rollins vs. Kane

3 of 7

The expectations were low to begin with, and Seth Rollins’ world title bout with Kane sits neatly in the middle of the pack here.

There was good energy on occasion from both men, but this never really felt like a match fans could get all that interested in.

A few decent spots showed the class of both men, including when the action spilled out of the ring and over near the announcers' area. Some moves on the announce table were executed well, but overall this lacked any sort of enthusiasm.

WWE needs to get its strategy sorted with Rollins now. For too long, his booking as world champion has been confusing and weak, and he needs the opportunity to strengthen his reign in the weeks to come.

4. Nikki Bella vs. Charlotte

4 of 7

As she attracts a lot of criticism for her performances in the ring, it’s only fair to commend Nikki Bella on how much she's improved recently.

She actually looked the stronger and more fluent of the two competitors, putting on a solid showing in defeat as Charlotte held on to the Divas Championship.

It had a nice touch of physicality to it, too, something which has been lacking in the women’s division from time to time. There was a real touch of personal edge to the bout, with a real rivalry being played out in front of our eyes.

Sadly, what prevents this going any higher is a lack of clarity over what’s next for the Divas. This would have been the perfect opportunity for Paige to come out and turn heel good and proper, but bizarrely she held Charlotte’s hand aloft like everything before had never happened.

3. John Cena vs. Alberto Del Rio

5 of 7

Surprise entrances and a surprise result see John Cena’s U.S. Title match with Alberto Del Rio sit in a lofty third place when power ranking Hell in a Cell’s matches.

When Zeb Colter emerged it seemed like an underwhelming moment was about to happen, with Jack Swagger likely to answer Cena’s open challenge.

Sending Colter out to partner Del Rio was a clever move because it created a swerve within a swerve, and left everyone completely surprised.

As for the bout itself, it may not have been a classic, but it was one well worth watching. Cena and Del Rio showed some nice touches, and the Mexican certainly didn’t have any ring rust to speak of. That’s no surprise, given his time away with other promotions.

It wasn’t Cena’s greatest ever match as champion, but a shock ending and a new champion gave fans something to cheer and something to take note of.

2. Roman Reigns vs. Bray Wyatt

6 of 7

There can be little doubt that one of the most brutal, impressive bouts of the night was Roman Reigns' clash with Bray Wyatt.

It was the spectacular culmination to their feud that many expected, with Reigns emerging the victor in a rivalry that began to really impress toward the end.

Reigns and Wyatt left nothing in the tank as they put their bodies on the line, with some brutal spots involving weapons also standing out.

They used the cell to their advantage and really helped to give the match a big-time feel, which is exactly what Hell in a Cell matches should have.

It wasn't quite the standout bout of the entire night, but Reigns and Wyatt certainly showed they can be stars of the present and the future with this epic battle.

1. Brock Lesnar vs. The Undertaker

7 of 7

This was everything a Hell in a Cell match is supposed to be, and Brock Lesnar vs. The Undertaker was without doubt the match of the night.

Similarly to Roman Reigns and Bray Wyatt before them, both men gave it everything they had and truly put their bodies at risk in a thrilling contest.

It had the feel of a rivalry that was personal, as some sickening blows ensued, and it produced one of the cell's most encapsulating matches.

The blood helped to install the intensity and the violence to take this match to another level.

A dramatic ending and an intriguing post-match segment with Taker and The Wyatt Family also made this the biggest match of the night. If you only had time to watch one match again from HIAC, it would be this one.
