WWE has been anything but the hottest product as of late, with its television ratings bottoming out at levels not seen since the era of despair that was the pre-Attitude Era days of the late 1990s, as hinted at by parody account @WWECreative_ish.

The social media reaction to the events of the October 25 pay-per-view proved strong, though, especially at the top of the show, which featured the stunning return of a former heavyweight champion.

John Cena kicked off the night's broadcast for his United States Championship, apparently eager to get a jump start on the post-Hell in a Cell vacation he has lined up.

The shocking return of Alberto Del Rio ignited a passionate response from the WWE Universe. His championship victory ended the most recent title reign for Cena, and his unexpected alliance with Zeb Colter, as captured on WWE's official account, leaves intriguing possibilities going forward.

Wrestling Observer Newsletter's Dave Meltzer detailed just how much of a surprise Del Rio's appearance at Sunday's pay-per-view was, even to those closest to him.

Current TNA Impact Wrestling star and WWE alumni Matt Hardy showed support for his friend Del Rio and congratulated him on his big return.

Former WWE tag team great "Road Dogg" Jesse James was equally as congratulatory of Del Rio, not to mention fairly excited for the Hell in a Cell match between Roman Reigns and Bray Wyatt.

Reigns and Wyatt delivered a violent, brutal match full of horrific bumps, including those captured by WWE's official Twitter account. The bumps were fantastic, and the violence was strong without being too choreographed. They did not rely on blood, as would be the case later in the night, and the final result was a match between two Superstars who clearly hated each other.

The Reigns win would seem to propel him back into the WWE title picture. As for Wyatt, his role in the future of WWE programming would become clear momentarily.

The New Day continued to deliver as the most interesting and entertaining characters on WWE television, as evidenced by their ludicrous, asinine promo that popped the crowd and was immortalized in this gem of a screenshot. After saluting Xavier Woods with their "unicorn horns," they successfully retained their WWE Tag Team Championships by hook, crook or trombone.

The Divas Revolution was in full force as Charlotte defended the WWE Divas Championship against Nikki Bella. The match earned applause from several across Twitter, including 2013 Hall of Fame inductee Mick Foley, who has long been a proponent of women's wrestling.

His sentiments were right, as the competitors worked a strong match with solid psychology and storytelling. Charlotte's win strengthens her title reign while giving fans the happy ending of seeing the bratty and egotistical Bella Twins beaten.

Prior to the feud-concluding contest between Rollins and Kane, celebrity film directors the Soska Twins, who worked with the Big Red Monster on See No Evil 2, had a piece of advice for The Architect.

The WWE World Heavyweight Championship was in the unenviable position of being one of the weaker matches on the card, with little in the way of interest for the feud or the challenger. The match lived down to expectations, with the most memorable spot coming when Rollins attempted to powerbomb Kane through the announce table, only to see said table no-sell the assault.

The fact that that one moment spawned the most interest indicates how boring and lackluster the rest of the match was. In a year when Rollins has been the saving grace of many a pay-per-view and television show, he and Kane failed to deliver anything that even remotely overcame the porous booking of WWE Creative.

GIFs of that moment popped up instantly across the social media website.

The intercontinental title was up for grabs as Kevin Owens defended his gold against former titleholder Ryback. What should have been a match that helped restore some credibility to the championship, though, was a four-minute sprint met with apathy by many, including Bleacher Report's own Mike Chiari.

The lack of time, along with no clear story to speak of, severely hurt the quality of the match and made for an afterthought of a contest on a card full of better and more interesting bouts.

With two letdowns in a row, there was even more pressure on Lesnar and The Undertaker to close out the show with a fantastic match. While it was nowhere near their 2002 classic, it was a brutal and violent match that utilized blood and breathtaking near-falls.

The callback to the countless low blows dealt by The Undertaker, called "cheap" by Paul Heyman months back on Raw, was a nice touch by Lesnar at the finish.

Just as The Undertaker was in the process of taking what appeared to be his final bow, The Wyatt Family bumper interrupted and the faction made its way to the ring, attacking The Deadman to close out the show, something radio personality Sam Roberts raved about on his personal account.

Sean "X-Pac" Waltman congratulated the company on a quality show and the competitors in the main event, which he considered the night's best.

Wrestlezone, however, preferred the showdown between Reigns and Wyatt.

And finally, WWE's official Twitter account asked if Wyatt is proud of his actions, its sentiments accompanied by a haunting image of the New Face of Fear.

The 2015 edition of Hell in a Cell was a show that featured hard work from all involved and two outstanding matches inside the structure for which the broadcast was named.

With that said, the lack of quality commentating and analysis across Twitter from respected names in the industryincluding Meltzer and Wade Keller, to name a fewsuggests that there is more of a correlation between the reports of sagging ratings by WrestlingInc.com and complete lack of interest in the product than some within WWE may have you believe.

The intrigue of The Wyatt Family's beatdown and abduction of Undertaker at the end of the broadcast should be enough to drum up interest in Monday's show, but where the company takes the story from there will be the determining factor.
