Liverpool Transfer News: Lazar Markovic Reveals Brendan Rodgers 'Problem'
Lazar Markovic has revealed that he did not have a good relationship with former Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers, and he clearly feels he was not given much of a chance by the Northern Irishman.
Markovic struggled in his debut season with Liverpool in 2014-15—following his £20 million move from Benfica—and he was subsequently sent out to Fenerbahce on a season-long loan in the summer.
Rodgers has since been replaced in the top job at Liverpool by Jurgen Klopp, and Markovic has now come out against his former boss, accusing him of playing him out of position, per Portuguese newspaper A Bola (via Sport Witness): "I didn't have a good relationship with the coach. That was a problem. I played in many positions but didn't play in mine."

According to Portuguese football writer Jan Hagen, he added:
The Serbian 21-year-old is an exciting attacking talent, and new Liverpool boss Klopp may yet have more success with him at Anfield.
Indeed, Simon Jones of the Daily Mail recently reported that Klopp was a fan of Markovic and was considering recalling the winger from his loan in January.
However, per the Liverpool Echo's James Pearce, that is not actually an option for the club, and Markovic is required to see out his season-long spell in Turkey:
Markovic could yet excel under Klopp in the future. The former Borussia Dortmund manager is famed for "promoting and nurturing young talent," per MailOnline's Sami Mokbel.
Markovic clearly does not feel he was nurtured by Rodgers, and he evidently had problems with being played in a variety of positions.
But it does not seem as though the youngster plans to break his ties with Liverpool. He is clearly aware that the appointment of Klopp could hand him an opportunity:
A strong season at Fenerbahce could see him return to Liverpool in a terrific position to make a claim for a spot in the starting XI.
Markovic is still in the early stages of his career, and his relatively poor debut season at Liverpool was largely unsurprising, considering the pressure on him to adapt quickly to new surroundings.
He could now benefit from Rodgers' departure, but he will have to wait until next season to ply his trade on Merseyside again.
