Liverpool Transfer News: Lazar Markovic Considered by Jurgen Klopp, Top Rumours

Christopher SimpsonOct 20, 2015

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is reportedly considering offering Lazar Markovic's Reds career a lifeline by recalling him from his season-long loan at Fenerbahce.

According to the Daily Mirror's David Anderson, part of the Anfield outfit's agreement with the Turkish side allows them to exercise the right to bring him back in January.

Bleacher Report columnist Jack Lusby believed the decision to send him out on loan in the first place was a poorly conceived idea:

As Anderson notes, Markovic arrived under predecessor Brendan Rodgers for a staggering £20 million, but he failed to make an impact on Merseyside.

Klopp's arrival represents a fresh start for every Liverpool player, though, and with Markovic still only 21, there's still plenty of time for him to justify his excessive fee. Further, following the sale of Raheem Sterling, there is scope to secure a starting berth out wide.

As OptaCan reveals, the Serbian has already made a promising start to life in Turkey:

According to Squawka, the youngster is averaging 4.83 successful take-ons per 90 minutes this season compared to a meagre 1.93 last year.

While Turkey's standards may not be as high as the Premier League's, Markovic is seemingly playing with more confidence and freedom than he enjoyed last season, making positive forward runs.

Markovic clearly has potential, and under the caring eye of Klopp, it's possible he could develop into a solid winger, as indicated by Bundesliga expert Clark Whitney:

However, Markovic could equally find himself out in the cold, if the German pursues Ajax's Anwar El Ghazia January target, according to the Guardian's John Ashdown.

El Ghazi has racked up eight goals and an assist in nine appearances this season, following on from impressive totals of 10 goals and nine assists in all competitions last year. Here are some of the 20-year-old's impressive highlights:

As OptaJohan demonstrates, the Dutchman is a clinical finisher:

Dutch football expert Michiel Jongsma runs the rule over the youngster:

The exciting winger's arrival would leave little room for Markovic at Anfield, and should Klopp land him, it could well spell the end of the Serbian's brief Liverpool career.

However, Fox Sports Netherlands (via Jongsma) reports El Ghazi extended his contract last December until 2019, so the Reds will have to pay a premium price in order to land him.
