Dolph Ziggler, Cesaro, Neville vs. Barrett, Sheamus, Rusev: Winner, Reaction

Mike ChiariOct 25, 2015

In a fast-paced, exciting six-man tag team match on the Hell in a Cell kickoff show, the trio of Dolph Ziggler, Cesaro and Neville prevailed over King Barrett, Sheamus and Rusev on Sunday.

WWE Universe shared the news:

Sheamus provided one of the highlights of the night with his suplex on Ziggler:

However, Cesaro stole the show:

Since Barrett's return to WWE programming following a hiatus to film a movie, he and The Celtic Warrior have formed a highly successful alliance. They have largely been contested by another recently minted duo in the form of Cesaro and Neville.

Two more Superstars entered the equation on the go-home edition of Raw as Ziggler and Rusev—who have been battling over the affections of Lana for months—joined their respective teams.

The six men involved are among the most talented individuals on the roster, but because of WWE's lack of development in terms of the midcard scene, they were thrown together in a match that doesn't have much big-picture meaning.

If the creative team plays its cards right, however, the bout could splinter off into a number of smaller feuds moving forward since all of the Superstars have interacted with one another and had some issues in the past.

That includes Barrett and Neville, who met in the finals of the King of the Ring tournament earlier in the year. The Englishmen are likely friendly with each other outside the ring, but the former bearer of bad news didn't hesitate to taunt The Man That Gravity Forgot with a tongue-in-cheek tweet:

Each of the Superstars in Sunday's kickoff match boast main event potential, and some of them have even ascended to that level at one time or another.

Circumstances have pushed them back down the card, though, and they are all jockeying for position on what may be one of the most talented rosters WWE has ever assembled.

All of them set out to put on a show and shine a little brighter than their counterparts, which made for an action-packed bout that undoubtedly set the tone for the entire Hell in a Cell event.

Most fans would argue that all six competitors deserve to be involved in something more substantial, but it is possible that their current positions motivated them. They all performed like they had something to prove, and they showed the world that they can entertain with the best of them.

With John Cena potentially taking some time off after Hell in a Cell, per PWInsider Elite (via WrestleZone.com's Jonathan Jansen), the door is now open for someone else to become a more important part of WWE's programming in the coming months.

They have done all they can to earn a spot, and it is now up to the WWE powers that be to utilize them to the best of their abilities.
