Overview
While the cricket on the field will take centre stage on Sunday, it seems the third ODI between India and South Africa could have an extra dimension. A political activist has threatened to disrupt the action, according to ESPNCrinfo.
The website reports that "community members will cordon off the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Khanderi village on the outskirts of Rajkot city, as tickets were allegedly not sold to his community members."
Security has been beefed up, but teams can only do what they came here to do: Play cricket.
While the outcome of this series means little in the greater scheme of things, a series victory will go a long way in boosting momentum ahead of the Test series.
The first ODI dished up a thrilling chase while the second was quite the opposite. South Africa struggled to get a modest total with significant partnerships absent from the scorecard.
Just one South African batsman—Faf du Plessis—managed a half century and nobody else managed more than 36. Most of the dismissals from the visitors were unnecessary aerial shots, a sign perhaps that South Africa still struggle when there is just a little bit of pressure on them.
They have the chance to change all that in this match and will be hoping that whatever protest might happen does not have too much of an effect on them.
There have been just two international matches at this ground, both in 2013. The ODI was won by England after they batted first and posted a total of 325 for four. There should be enough in this track to make it a good game for the batsmen, provided they keep their cool, of course.
Key Players
India
Bhuvneshwar Kumar showed just how useful he can be in the second ODI. His figures of three for 41 and economy rate of 4.73 went a long way in helping India to victory. If he can repeat this kind of form, he'll be crucial to India's charge.
South Africa
Since bursting on to the scene in the Under-19 Cricket World Cup, Kagiso Rabada’s star has been on the up and up. He has been a great support act to Dale Steyn throughout this series, and his pace and aggression form a key part of the South African attack.
