Gordon Comments on Recovery
Sunday, Sept. 27
“I completely accept where I'm at right now," Gordon said, per Josh Robbins of the Orlando Sentinel. "All I can do is continue to do what they tell me to do and continue what I feel is best for myself. And, then, by the time it's time for me to play in Brazil, I'm just right in stride."
Gordon Will Look to Build on Strong Rookie Campaign Upon Return
Aside from a foot fracture that required surgery early in 2014-15, Gordon had a standout rookie season, playing in 48 games. He followed that with an impressive NBA Summer League campaign before suffering the most recent setback.
Looking ahead, per Robbins, Magic coach Scott Skiles hopes the versatile Gordon can "guard against four different positions, even point guards."
Gordon’s return should revitalize a Magic team that has playoff aspirations but continues to face skepticism. Center Nikola Vucevic and shooting guard Victor Oladipo have All-Star potential, but the Magic are hoping that Gordon, who started just eight of the 47 games he played in last year, solidifies his role at power forward.
The Magic have high hopes for the rising star, but Gordon sets the bar even higher. In an interview with FanSided’s Brett David Roberts, Gordon spoke on his tremendous upside: “I’m tired of potential. I’m sick of potential. Obviously I appreciate that very much. I’m done waiting.”
It looks like the wait is nearly over.
