College Football Week 6 Opening Odds: Oklahoma over Rival Texas on Betting Lines
The Oklahoma Sooners opened as almost two-touchdown favorites for their Red River Rivalry matchup against the Texas Longhorns, and that line was immediately on the move, as we take a look at the opening and early Week 6 college football odds.
The Sooners opened as 13.5-point favorites against the Longhorns for their annual showdown at the Cotton Bowl, and they'd been bet up to 16.5-point favorites at some sportsbooks by late Sunday night.
Texas' performance against TCU over the weekend likely had a hand in that line shift, as the Longhorns were demolished 50-7 on the road against the Horned Frogs in Week 5 as a 14.5-point underdog to drop them to 1-4 both straight up and against the spread this season.
The Sooners are 4-0 SU and 3-1 ATS on the season, having no trouble covering the spread in their 44-24 win over West Virginia last weekend as a 6.5-point betting favorite. Oklahoma is 4-1 SU and 3-2 ATS over its last five games against Texas dating back to 2010, although the Longhorns did cover a 16.5-point spread in their 31-26 loss to the Sooners last season.
Elsewhere, Michigan opened as a 10-point home favorite against Northwestern for this weekend, while Ohio State opened as a 28.5-point home favorite against Maryland, Clemson opened as a 7.5-point home favorite against Georgia Tech and Notre Dame opened as a 16-point home favorite against Navy.
The betting line for the Navy vs. Notre Dame betting matchup had shrunk slightly to make the Fighting Irish a 14.5-point home favorite by Sunday night. Notre Dame is 4-0 SU in its last four games against Navy, although the Midshipmen are 2-0 ATS in their two meetings over the last two seasons.
Baylor opened as a huge 38-point road favorite against Kansas on the Week 6 college football betting lines, LSU opened as a 13-point road favorite against South Carolina, Georgia opened as a 2.5-point road favorite against Tennessee and Florida opened as a 3.5-point road favorite against Missouri.
And in a battle between ranked teams late on Saturday night, Utah opened as a seven-point home favorite against California. The Golden Bears are 5-0 ATS in their last five games on the road against fellow Pac-12 teams, according to the Odds Shark college football database, while the Utes are 5-1 ATS in their last six October home games.
