Brendan Rodgers Fired by Liverpool: Twitter Reaction and Latest Comments
The sacking of Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers set Twitter ablaze on Sunday after the Northern Irishman was dismissed following the Reds' 1-1 draw with Everton at Goodison Park.
Liverpool confirmed the news via their official website with the Reds 10th in the league, six points behind leaders Manchester City.
In a statement, Reds owners Fenway Sports Group thanked Rodgers and added: "Although this has been a difficult decision, we believe it provides us with the best opportunity for success on the pitch. Ambition and winning are at the heart of what we want to bring to Liverpool and we believe this change gives us the best opportunity to deliver it."

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was asked for his reaction in his post-match press conference as the news broke, and the Frenchman offered some encouraging words to Rodgers, whom he feels was unlucky not to win the Premier League in the 2013-14 season, in which the Reds came second by two points:
According to the Mirror's Ben Curtis, former Liverpool player and Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher gave his reaction.
"It hasn’t gone well for him and he needed to make a good start this season," Carragher said. "He was maybe fortunate to stay on at the end of last season. I don’t like doing it now. Do it in the summer if you want to make a change. He’ll have known himself that he had to make a good start and he hasn’t."
There was plenty of reaction on social media, with B/R's own Karl Matchett, footballer and pundit Clinton Morrison and former player Jimmy Bullard among those surprised by the timing of the news:
David Anderson of the Daily Mirror felt the sacking had been on the cards for some time, however:
The Times' Oliver Kay believed Rodgers wasn't the only cause of Liverpool's struggles and cited the need for a swift appointment in his stead:
Football broadcaster, journalist and Liverpool fan Colin Murray thanked Rodgers for his efforts at the helm of the Merseyside club:
The Sunday World's Kevin Palmer was less kind to the 42-year-old, brandishing him a "joke":
However, as Match of the Day and OptaJoe revealed, Rodgers leaves the club with a fairly impressive record, albeit Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge can take a healthy amount of the credit:
B/R's own Sam Tighe believes struggling Aston Villa could capitalise on Rodgers' newfound availability:
After enduring a difficult time at Anfield following Suarez's departure to Barcelona, Rodgers' reputation has certainly taken a hit, and assertions such as Palmer's provide a sharp contrast to the plaudits he earned with Swansea City.
A club of Villa's stature is the most likely destination for the manager, who will need to rebuild his standing before being tasked with a prestigious job at a side like Liverpool again.
It's easy to forget Rodgers is still a young manager, though, so there's plenty of time for him to bounce back from his disappointing dismissal.
There will undoubtedly be more managerial upheaval in the Premier League later in the season or early in the next campaign, so Rodgers will likely have plenty of opportunity to make his comeback sooner rather than later.
